KYbass1276 Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Just read and it's kinda obvious that fireworks prices are up and they can't seem to be able to get more due to china having some issues. How many are planning on a big display this year. Me I'm just going to watch everyone else's, I have a good veiw all around where I live I can see fireworks for miles. Quote
moby bass Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I'm cutting waaaaay back this year. I have a friend who owns a fireworks business and he did confirm to me last May that prices were up and inventories were down due to that fire at a shipping port in China. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 3, 2008 Super User Posted July 3, 2008 They are illegal where I live. Going to the display in downtown Houston Friday night. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 3, 2008 Super User Posted July 3, 2008 arial based fireworks are illegal here, but ground based fireworks were just legalized a few years ago. all we can have are hand held sparklers and ground based fountains which just sit there and shoot sparks up.....boring! we cant even have bottle rockets or fire crackers!!! but im going to a minor league baseball game (new team, Blue Crabs, stadium is 15 min from my house and we're getting free tickets) and there will be a fireworks show there. Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 3, 2008 Super User Posted July 3, 2008 Two marinas here on the lake put on a pretty good 35-45 minute show every 4th of July. We'll get in the boat about 8:00 P.M. and get our spot on the lake, I'll fish for a while and my wife will read until the show starts. The only problem with watching fireworks on the water is, at the end of the show everybody wants to leave at the same time. Imagine a 1000-1500 boat "jail-break". It gets quite interesting. Happy 4th to all, Falcon Quote

Fireworks that go into the air are illegal here too, but that doesn't stop anyone. (Including me) You'd be amaaaazed at the number of people that drive to South Carolina to buy illegal fireworks. Granted I live in a small town, but we have residents that actually buy from the licensed fireworks guy that shoots them off for our town, and then turn around and shoot theirs off right after the big show only 1/4 of a mile away! Other. Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Read a article in the newspaper about fireworks in my county. Anyone caught with fireworks can face a $1,000 dollar fine and up to six months in jail. My county does not even allow us to use sparklers > The only thing legal here are those little poppers that you can throw at the ground and they make a popping sound about the same loudness as a finger snap. Mobydick Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 We go to a party every year, one of the best fireworks shows i've ever seen. Over 4,500 $ this year, And there all the big ones, nuthin little. It's always fun. We all donate money each year. Just somethin I wanna add......to anybody out there who will be setting off fireworks, be safe. Quote

Few years back,Living in Dallas TX. they set up a raid road blocks around certain roads and if you had fireworks in your car heading into Dallas it was an automatic $2000 fine and your fireworks were confiscated.Even if you just brought them to bring out to where your other family was in the country(where fireworks were legal to shoot off) the cops didn't care to hear any stories. They caught my best friend one year and he told them they were going out to their uncle's farm and the cops told him you should have just dropped them off by his house before coming back into Dallas then. BASS fisherman Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 I read an article in a local paper today that said we (in PA) are allowed to posses, and purchase fireworks - the good ones. But we are not allowed to use them in PA. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but I still think those laws are stupid. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted July 4, 2008 Super User Posted July 4, 2008 I cant buy them in my county, but I can go to the next county over and buy them and shoot 'em off in my county. You can shoot 'em, posses them, but cant buy. Quote
