BUCKEYEone Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Last night my wife received a call from a phone number that came up on our caller ID as an 801 number listed as TELEPROMOTIONS, they claimed to be associated with Bank of America and were asking her questions regarding her getting a free credit report. She has an account with Bank of America so she listed as they rattled off the last 4 numbers of her account, our address, etc. I stopped her when I realized that we had just gotten the phone number they called about 3 weeks ago, and that Bank of America would not have that number. She called Bank of America, and they verified that the caller was in no way associated with BOA, and put a credit monitoring note on her account. My brother received a similar call just a couple nights ago, and so did one of my co-workers...so beware! Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted July 4, 2008 Super User Posted July 4, 2008 The scheme is also being used via e-mail with references to several different banks including Bank of America. It's called phishing. Don't bite and get caught. The last time I got one, I fowarded it to the FBI. Quote
