Popeye Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I found out this AM that George Carlin died yesterday at the age of 71 from a heart attack. I know that his form of comedy rubs a lot of people the wrong way, BUT I have been watching him perform on TV for the past 40 odd years and think he deserves a few accolades and RIP's from those of us who did like him. He certainly was controversial but then again so were/are Richard Prior, Robin Williams, Lewis Black, Lenny Bruce, and a slew of other comedians who all deserve the label: comic genius. Just my thoughts and opinion. George MADE ME LAUGH and that's something I thank him for. May you Rest In Peace, George! Quote
Aaron Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I really liked his comedy, plus in one of his books he had a great quote about my Oakland Raiders. I don't remeber what it was exactly but even if I did it couldn't be repeated here. R.I.P, George. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 23, 2008 Super User Posted June 23, 2008 He always was a true American, making great statements about how great the USA is. He will be truely missed. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 23, 2008 Super User Posted June 23, 2008 George Carlin is one my personal heroes. I look at his comedy this way..... You'll laugh until he makes you think. I saw him in concert years ago. He was fantastic. I will miss him. :'( Quote
weknowhowtolive Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Mom called me and woke me up way too early this morning to tell me. The news said he went in to the hospital with chest pains and died there later that day. Makes me wonder how serious they took him if he just died in the ER when going in conscious. I liked his humor a lot when I was younger, and still like it today. Smart man (why do we drive on a parkway and park in a driveway?) and he will be missed. Quote
Big Tom Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Thats crazy. I found him to be hilarious!! He will be miss by many. Quote
-HAWK- Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 RIP, he's probably in heaven cracking everyone up as we speak. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted June 23, 2008 Super User Posted June 23, 2008 RIP, he's probably in heaven cracking everyone up as we speak. That's not very likely, based on his personal belief about heaven. I have nothing against him personally, I have laughed at lot of his jokes, but based on his own words, heaven would seem to be a longshot. http://atheism.about.com/library/quotes/bl_q_GCarlin.htm Ronnie Quote
Zel Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 If George were a member here, he might have come up with the "Seven Dirty Words/Statements" for BR: Politics, Religion, S e x, Ex-Member, Glam Shots, Competitors Websites, and How Do You Fish A Senko?. Quote
cpvenom Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 He is/was probably one of my favorite comedians. I have all 3 of his books. R.I.P mr. funnyman Quote
