The water would not be the only thing wet there now would it?

I've seen the whole video where this clip comes from. I think it was a documentry I stumbled upon once while flipping channels.  It's somewhere in the south seas, way out in the middle of nowhere. Some sort of bizzare formation of underwater land makes these waves appear out of nowhere in the middle of the ocean.  Only the World's Best surfers can even attempt these mammoth waves.

Impressive.

Think the clip is from "Riding Giants" or maybe "step into liquid", both are amazing surfing documentarys.

that break is in maui and it's called "jaws". Check out the Laird Hamilton video, he surfs jaws and huge 70 foot waves in tahiti. That video clip is taken from his video "Laird".

it is either jaws or some other outside reef in hawaii. a lot of my friends are into riding big surf via "tow ins". i love surfing, but a 30+ foot wave punks me out. the wave runner simply backs out as soon as the guy lets go of the rope ; however, the wave runner will ride parallel to the guy on the wave only he is behind the soup instead of in front of it. when the surfer falls or kicks out, the wave runner is there to ****** him up for another wave. these guys are nuts. when they get caught in the soup, they are under the water getting tossed like clothes in a spin cycle for 3-5 minutes. sick. laird hamilton has balls of steel---he does this regularly and is the pioneer of big wave tow ins.
