My first trip to Gander was shortly after they opened  and they hadn't completely stocked all the shelves.

My 2nd trip was today.  No Loomis rods. No Calcutta TE DC's. No Shimano Chronarc MG's.  I ended up spending $116 on tackle though.  The cashier said I get a free meal from their restaraunt since I spent over $100.  In fact, the sign on the regeister clearly displayed "Spend $100 or more and dads eat free from the restaraunt."

Cool deal.  Wasn't too hungry but who would turn down a free meal.  I get to the restaraunt and order a hamburger.  I'm told I had to buy one for my son in order to receive mine for free.   SAY WHAT!  That's not what sign or cashier said.  There reply- Well sir, the restaraunt is seperate from the store..  I'm like ,AND???  Manager comes over and says  "the newspaper says buy one get one free."  I said "Who cares what's in the newspaper!  Your sign says differently and the sign is in the store, not the newspaper!"

The manager said "Let me check on this for you sir."  He comes back and said "ok, we will honor it this time."  I said "No thanks. I'll get a refund on my merchandise and go to Bass Pro Shops."  I turned to a family of five and gave them my spare receipt and said "Here sir, lunch is on me. Order the most expensive thing on the menu" and walked out.

Gander can kiss my BASS!

Been there a few times so far and I still think Bass Pro rules as far as fishing department, but the archery/gun department is much better at Gander.  Prices are a bit on the higher side though.

Don't give up Bassn the drive is much further down to Dania and what you spend on gas you'll end up saving in the long run.

Yea, I kmow.  I don't hunt but I heard their archery section was awesome.  The prices are no better than Sports Auth. or Wal-Mart but they have a few thing those stores don't.  I think I'd rather order from our sponsors or Bass Pro unless I'm in dire straights of needing it fast.

Gander Mountain really does suck. Customer service sucks and the people working there hardly know whats going on went there one time and seen a sign that said buy a tackle box and save 20% on all tackle you can fit in the tackle box sounded like a good deal asked when the sale was done guy came back 10 minutes later and said he didn't know and either did the store manager how can a store manager not know how long a sale is running. Lots of similiar things have happened. Selection can be pretty basic at times and its takes for ever to get lures and other things back in stock after they sell out. Prices are high too.

Yall are funny.  I worked there for a year selling firearms- I know exactly how bad that place can be.

Its like anywhere, though; good people don't work very long for $8/hour.

I have been there twice and wasnt very happy. The tackle selection is limited. Rod and reel selection is poor. The only thing i did like was the gun section and the boating section. I didnt even know they had a restaraunt, that must be new.

When it comes to rods and reels their selection to me is poor but it is a step up from Dicks.  The service at the north side Indianapolis store is pretty good.  Most of the guys that work there are old time fisherman that know their stuff.  When it comes to tackle they have good selection but not great.  My only big problem with them is "price".   They are more expensive than just about anybody and when asked if they would match advertised prices from competitors, the manager laughed as though I was joking.

They seem to carry just enough (quantity) equipment and tackle to keep them busy and that's about it.

When the Gander Mountain near me first opened, it was a great place to shop. They had a decent selection, and I liked their Guide Series rods.

In the last five years, they have down sized their fishing department by 1/3, and they are always out of stock, the sales associates are less than informed.

I'd rather travel the extra twenty-five miles to shop at BPS.

Thank goodness for Green Top, Castaways, Dance's and the two secret tackle shops in the greater Richmond, Virginia area.

Excellent selections and fair prices plus people who know fishing help you with your selections.

Sorry about your Gander Mountain experience but thats what you get when you visit the big box stores and people who are working just to work and really do not have much interest in fishing or hunting.

I am going to drive right by the Hampton BPS tomorrow on my way back from a client meeting and go directly to Green Top to find the color Slider I am seeking.  I know for a fact that Green Top has it and BPS does not.

I will not even cast a glance towards Gander Mountain as I pass by their location near Green Top.

The shelves weren't completely stocked?  Right after it opened?

On the second visit you had a minor dispute over a free meal and the manager made it right - politely?

What's your complaint?

The fact that an employee in the fishing section never heard of Yozuri when I asked if they carried yozuri line.  Don't open if you aren't stocked..   The manager argued 10 minutes before making it right.  The reel and rod selection sucked.  And lastly, because I said they suck.
