Give Up One?

If you hunt, and Bass fish, and had to give up one forever, which would it be?  For me, I have given up hunting due to land availability, as well as time commitments during the fall.  I have told many, and I'll tell you, I'd pick Bass fishing any day over hunting.  I hunted mostly with a bow and harvested many with it, but giving it up was not as damaging as I thought.  I guess ask me in October?  Maybe I will still be fishing...?

For the last 5 years and 10 months, my job in the army was to sit quietly with a gun.  27 months of Iraq time taught me that I was very, very good at waiting quietly with a gun.  I've got nothing left to prove with a rifle, I don't think.  I've already given up hunting.  Too much like work and deer aren't as smart as humans :

I get more of a rush with hunting, but I'd rather catch fish all day long. I like a bunch of little rushes more than 1 huge rush not as often... If that makes sense?

Just a choice type thread...come on burley...what's your answer.  Thanks to all who responded.  I kinda agree about all the killing.  I got two deer this past year, and enjoyed the meat, but for some reason the luster of the whole event wasn't there.  Don't get me wrong, I was very thankful for both harvested deer, but it wasn't like it has always been in years past.  Thanks for all your service Brian_Reeves, our Country wouldn't be the great place it is to live without guys like you...Thanks!!!!   Enjoy your day guys...4 days till I leave for my SWEET trip to Lake Champlain!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am just a wee bit excited......

Gave up hunting.

Too cold.  Too lonely.  Too dull.  Too wet.  And I can't drag the animal out of the woods by myself anymore.

Of course, the local cats in my back yard are still game for me and my B-B gun.

I gave up hunting and skiing in 1990 when I got transferred to Florida.  It's warm enough to bass fish all year.

I had to give up hunting after my accident, and all the surgeries, but if I had to make the choice, I would take fishing over hunting any day.

If I had to give up one or the other then I would just give up both because I like them both to much and without one the other just isn't appealing to me.   When I fish all spring in summer I start to get tired of it toward the fall months and long to be out hunting and doing something different.   When I'm hunting during the fall and winter toward the end of the season I start thinking about spring and the spawn and catching fish during the summer and I can't wait.   For me they both give me a break from the other and I can't pick one so I would give them both up.

I havent had a chance to do any hunting in my life, but with bag limits and tags and short seasons, I would assume most hunters/fishers spend way more time fishing than hunting.

I would give up hunting.  I don't go that often, and I am just as happy going and target shooting or shooting skeet as i am hunting.

Fishing is my main hobby now, it took over playing football when i graduated high school.

Already given up hunting, just lost its appeal to me dealing with the knuckleheads who appear in the woods. Concentrating on fishing, got myself a small boat and having a blast.

I gave up hunting several years ago.  As others have stated, to wet, to cold and to dull.  It just doesn't give me the rush it use to.  If I take it up again, I think I will stick to a bow.

Funny story though and what caused me to quit> The last time I went hunting I went with my brothter-in-law.  He was into using all the latest scents, gear, ect.  He sprayed himself down with everything you can think of.  I got a kick out of it.  He and his buddies that came with us later sat in tree stands, drank beer, smoked some cigs, and basically froze to death all day.  None of us even got a shot off.  I couldn't believe all the scents and then they would smoke and drink.  .  

At least nobody got hurt.

With the weather we have here in New England It's nice to be able to do both.Fishing is great, but all year long.Nice to change it up and fill the freezer with some meat.

Hmmmmmm................I suppose if I was forced, I would give up hunting. Although, I definitely agree with KYbass1276, especially since we cannot fish for bass all year (June - November).

Other than in your situation, I would tend to disagree with that  

I guess it would have to be hunting for me, but bow season would definitely be a little tense around my house...

I dont forsee either of these activities ending anytime soon though
