hey guys just wanted to share some pics of the F22 Raptor. these were taken at the induction of the raptor to our base were the first base to get these and only a couple bases are getting them. these jets have the most technology in the entire world. no one even has anything to this extent on their drawing board.

honestly im not sure of the top speed but when they did the first flyover they flew down straight at the base and both of them broke the sound barrier it was LOUD. the things these can do is crazy. they are pretty awesome.

We've had an ever-growing population of F-22s here where I live - near Langley AFB, Virginia.   Awesome airplanes.  I love seeing them fly over.

cool pics. what is the top speed of that beast?

Speed:  Mach 2 class with supercruise capability

Yeah, supercruise = speed of sound w/o afterburners.

Between the F35 and the F22, the Airforce is about to become the most technologically advanced and most dangerous force in human history.  What those two planes are capable of doing is scary.  Stealth, speed, ordinance, superior dog fighting, and the ability to operate in any weather makes them one heck of a tool in any conflict.

I wish they'd pour as much money and research into our ground forces though.  EM guns, lighter armor, around the corner targeting, and integrated sights are all existing technologies, but we're still firing weapons designed in the '60s.  The Army needs to follow the Air Force's and Navy's example.  Technology=superiority.

The true top-speed of the F-22 is largely unknown to the general public

Supercruise: Mach 1.72 = 1,140 mph at altitude with out afterburners

Top speed released to the public Mach 2.42 = 1,600 mph+

So, ummmmm when will these be on the market?   ::) ::) ::) ::)  I want one to fly to my favorite fishing hole.. no matter where in the world it is..  ;D ;D ;D ;D

That is nothing my Gremlin could go faster. That is right Blue jean interior and hockey stick stripes and all.

As far as mpg, I think it's actually pretty good as far as jets go.  Afterburners work by dumping fuel straight into the jet exhaust.  Since the F22 doesn't have to kick the cans to go supersonic, that has to save gas right there.  Also, I think it has like a 1500 mile mission radius or something like that.  It can reach out there and touch someone.

Well not really touch them.  More like physically abuse them in ways that people have never concieved.

The first time I saw those while I was flats fishing near Tyndall AFB back in 1998.  I think it was still under development the YF-22.  Anyway last year at the Fort Lauderdale Air Show they put on a heck of a show.

Great pics and thank you for your service to the best D..MN country in the world.
