Fish Man Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 seeing as both the pens and red wings are up 3-0 in their series. it is safe to assume that they will be playing for the cup. what is everyones thoughts on this....go pens Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 14, 2008 Super User Posted May 14, 2008 I think the NHL should go ahead and inscribe Detroit Red Wings on The Cup. I dont think the Penguins can hang with Detroit....they are too fast and have the best mix of finesse players, role players and grinders of any team in the league and it shows. They are spanking a good Dallas team that knocked out a good San Jose team that some experts picked to win it all. Fleury needs to have the best stretch of his career if they want to beat Detroit. The Flyers haven't tested Fleury too much in the current series. Other than that, I don't like either team but if I had to lay money down, it would be on Detroit. Quote
flyhatch Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 i like the pens 3 to 0 lead but you know what Badger Bob said "you gotta win four" I agree that detroit is strong but if the pens get to the finals I think they will make a good showing. Quote
Fish Man Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 one thing ill add that may help the pens early in a series with detriot is that fact that the trip from detriot to dallas is much longer than the trip from pitt to philladelphia. may help the pens out if both series go 4, the pens MIGHT not be as drained as detriot from a long trip Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 14, 2008 Super User Posted May 14, 2008 I was expecting Philly to have a long series with the Penguins but Timmonen? got hurt and apparently they can't win without him. Quote
bassnleo Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I also was expecting a closer series, the Pens have kinda opened things up. The Flyers just don't seem to have the fire they had against Montreal. I suspect we'll see the Red Wings and Pens in the finals. Quote
Popeye Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 "Ducks" in a sweep! Oh wait, that's next year! Go Pens:o) Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 As mucnh as this is going to kill me detroit. Iam not a fan of any team left in the playoffs. Shoot my team didn't even make it this year. But detroit is going to be a tuff team. I have been hearing about the red wings all year from a friend. Thats all right augest is almost here. Then I can watch football again. Then hope my hockey team dose good next year. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted May 14, 2008 Super User Posted May 14, 2008 At the risk of being over-confident, just put all the Red Wings Players names on Lord Stanley's cup now. Falcon Quote
BadKarma42 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 The Pens have talent and Gino has been walking through people. Sid the Kid can light the lamp at any time. I expect the Flyers to to leave it on the ice tonight. I think they may win tonight and then the Pens will finsh it in the next game. Fleury has been solid in the playoffs. Some goals given up have not been his fault. I have not followed the Red Wings, but media accounts would appear to have them winning it all. They will need to play the entire length of the ice to keep the Pens in check. Pitt has taken advantage of the 3/4 ice game. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 28, 2008 Super User Posted May 28, 2008 Dang it....I had to go back 5 pages to find this thread. So the question now is, will the Penguins score a goal in the Finals? Quote
BadKarma42 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 The Red Wings seem to be a step ahead of the Pens. It looks like they have done a great job of scouting and game planning. They certainly appear to be a veteran team. The way game 2 started, I liked the physical play by the Pens...they just couldn't hang. Hopefully they light the lamp at home. Quote
bassnleo Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Pens are gonna have to dig deep, really deep, to even the series. Wings are looking tough! Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted May 28, 2008 Super User Posted May 28, 2008 I'm a little disappointed in the Pens. Things go sour for them and they turn into a bunch of "Street Thugs". Let's play hockey. Falcon Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 29, 2008 Super User Posted May 29, 2008 The Penguins are looking a lot better tonight. Quote
Fish Man Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 if the pens can take game 4 then we will have a great series Quote
flyhatch Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 the pens finally got there act together make for some great hockey to watch Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I've been a Red Wings fan a long time, and I will surely be rooting for them.I think they have a good chance of winning it. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I've been a Red Wings fan a long time, and I will surely be rooting for them.I think they have a good chance of winning it. Unfortunately, I think you are correct sir. However, if the Pens can win again Saturday and Malkin gets on the scoring line that should make for a fun game 5. Quote
logger Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I am a redwings fan and think they'll win it. Game 3 a lot more fun to watch though. I still can't believe the no-call when Holmstrom got dumped into the net, but I guess its better than when they call penalties for guys looking at each other funny. Quote
