Super User Root beer Posted May 26, 2008 Super User Posted May 26, 2008 Boxer. I've had two of 'em. They are medium built, pretty face, short hair, beatiful dogs and very loving. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted May 26, 2008 Super User Posted May 26, 2008 http://www.pet-dog-magazine.com/image-files/boxer-annonymus.jpg This your average boxer. I'll post up picture of my current boxer later. You can have their ears crop where it'll stick up. Quote
Troutfisher Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I'll vote for lab mix. We have 2, they're the best dogs you can get! Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 27, 2008 Author Super User Posted May 27, 2008 Raul, Hmmm, you may be onto something there. Gidget likes what she sees too - your pictures dont come up for some reason though. Quote
fishbear Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Labs love to chew everything in sight for the first year or two... sooooo if you have Italian leather shoes, or a nice table with wood legs,, or a leather recliner,,,, it will get chewed on.. How about an Australian Blue Heeler. They are very protective, and love to play but are not psycho like some of the terriers. They are also extremely smart... plus they look very cool. http://www.blueheeler.com/ Quote
WIII-60 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 dogs, dog breeds & dog care by dr. peter larkin. best all-around resource for the person who wants a dog but does'nt know which one. All have negatives. All have positives. All are better than cats. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 Robert, If you plan on getting a smoothie send me a PM, I can provide you with Sandra and Felipe 's phone number, or can tell you from whom to purchase a good quality dog, the same applies for boxers, I have a friend here that owns the No 1 Boxer in the US and Mexico, Doc ( Suncrest I 'm the man ): Once Doc is here we are going to pair him with this baby ( Carson ): Man, I just drool to think about how the litter that 's going to be produced by those two, check Quiroz Boxers and check the puppies, that litter is that same dam with Tiger ( Suncrest High Flyer ): Quote
Super User Root beer Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 Boxers are awesome dogs!! My first one live to be 11 and the one I have right now is almost 2 years old. You wont regret having a boxer redline!!! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Look at the muscles in the right rear leg in the last pic, holy crap. Very majestic. This weekend, the Lunkerville crew got footage of "OJO the wonder dog" hunting bluegill. She's an American Stafford (Pit) and she's a riot. Has the discipline and intelligence to get it done. The film grew thought it was a trip. Only problem is when she gets bored w/ the panfish, her next idea is to tote rocks the size of softballs around with her mouth. Just watching her makes me cringe and grit my teeth. Dogs are amazing (but so are cats ) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 We have a Corgi named Malcolm. He is the best pet we have ever owned. http://www.welshcorgi.com/ http://www.rednirt.4t.com/corgi.html 8-) Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 But Corgis shed a lot RW, I don 't think Robert would like to go to work dressed up in them Armani suits cover with dog hair. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Been bit 5 times. Twice by Corgi's. Go figure. They are tricky buggers, pretend to like you and then out of the blue,.....SNAP! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 But Corgis shed a lot RW, I don 't think Robert would like to go to work dressed up in them Armani suits cover with dog hair. Well, I suspect Robert can afford to have the dog groomed. They don't jump on furniture, so unless you spend a lot of time rolling on the floor in your suit, I really don't think it's an issue. Hey Russ, I think it's pretty rare for a corgi to bite, but they really don't like guys in brown clothes who the dog thinks might steal his trash! Our dog gets along with two cats, but doesn't allow visitors. Malcolm's #1 enemy is squirrels. 8-) Quote
WIII-60 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Before you get a boxer, here's a couple of things that are the downsides. Other than these, boxers are a really great dog. Boxers slobber and will get it on anything that contacts the inside of their jowels, or when they rest their head. They shed just like any other dog. Because the hair is short it burrows into other fabrics. They can be pretty gassy. This was my experience, I'm sure others have had different. Mine was a quality bred dog as well. Quote

Like going to pet him for the tenth time and......YOWZERS,lol. Quote

tyrius. Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I suppose a dog that isn't so hyper would be preferable, and any one of the dogs that I've mentioned usually are. I think that there is a difference between hyper and active. Vizslas, like Weims (we have one), are high energy and require adequate excercise. However, they don't act like a hyper freak like a Jack Russell Terrier. A coworker has 2 vizslas and they keep each other occupied. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 27, 2008 Author Super User Posted May 27, 2008 Yeah, Vizsla's are beautiful. Maybe I should consider getting two for that reason. Quote
key chain bass guy Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 My boxer Cassius. Can't go wrong with a boxer!!!! Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 beagles are the best dogs in the world Quote
BirdNestBen Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I've got 2 Jack Russel's- 1 is a short coat and one a rough coat.... They are tremendous dogs... very smart and love to play.... But like everyone has said they need attention.... if they don't get it usually they find something to tear up..... They have very interesting personalities to say the least........ Quote
hammer84 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 My vote is call the local rescue groups. You can find a resuce for about any type of breed. Many time they have dogs that are a year or two old and you can really see their personality, something you cannot do with a puppy, no matter what breeder you use. Pure breds also have a much higher heath issue rate than a dog with just a little mix. Do what you feel is right but a dog with papers is no better than a dog with out. Quote
