Speckled Bass Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I guess my curiousity has got the best of me. I'm not singling out any particular fishing/hunting sites/forums I'm talking about them in a general sense of the word. Why is it when someone posts a topic on these sites does it seem to be the very same ones who reply to them seem to always make time and knowingly/purposely to belittle and demean the original poster of those threads instead of just moving on to another topic? I can't begin to see , understand, nor get the pleasure of why people do what they do and I guess I'm not suppose to. These kinds of people must have a VERY BORING life or HAVE No life at all.It seems like the Adminstrators nor Moderators of these sites do absolutly nothing and just let things go. I've seen alot of threads on several sites that I belong to where I scan through different topics on them to see if it's anything I'm interested in or just ignore them all together and move on to another part of that site. I've seen from time to time members here on Bassresource have on occassion have had their disagreements on certain topics but at least the Administrator and Mods do their very best to take care of the issues when they arise before they get to far out of hand. That's why I'm so impressed with Glenn's site and the Mods here. I don't post on here much but this site feels like a safe haven for me and the way things are handled here. Not that long ago I had a phone converstion with an Administrator of a hunting/fishing site where they admitted to me that they just let things go and I told him that that was probably why he's loosing some of his sponsors and most of his membership. Super User grimlin Posted May 29, 2008 Super User Posted May 29, 2008 A lot of the bigger sites do let things go.However here @ bass resource you really don't get away with it.Try posting "senko" as a topic and see how long it lasts. This site moderates threads very well for it's shear sizes of posters that do post here. The moderators here seem to have a 3rd sense in when a topic will go bad. However take bass pro shop forum....so many young kids are asking the same question twice which in return the older guys are firing back "didn't you just ask this question?'' in a semi-rudely manner.kids nowadays don't listen.Sometimes you just gotta do a little searching before you ask a question.I understand everybody starts out as new to the forum...but read some things before you ask a question. You can usually tell if you are dealing with an idiot when they start typing/talking. Quote

It doesn't just "happen". Glenn's model is "family friendly". Family members fight occasionally, but we try to keep it civil and when it's not, the Moderators step in. BassResource.com is different than other forums on the net and we intend to keep it that way. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator 8-) Quote
Jake P Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I have to agree 100%, of the few forums i have been apart of or seen it has never been as organized or friendly as BR. I give props to everyone here, admins, mods and members. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Definitely agree on this one! This site is great at filtering an issues, but for the most part you don't see the members harassing one another anyway. This site is made up of a great group of guys/gals, and great moderators to boot. I cant stand to check my state fishing website for more than one fishing report simply because people feel the need to validate themselves by slamming every post someone else puts up, and the site doesn't monitor/moderate any of it. Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 31, 2008 Super User Posted May 31, 2008 I guess my curiousity has got the best of me. It's ok. We all did as teenagers and some still do. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 If any member sees an attack or is attacked directly, please consult a mod as this is the site that DOES NOT allow that stuff. If someone is insulted by another persons opinion,....sometimes that's a tricky one, but in general, if you attack a member,...I attack you. Your call. We have a huge appreciation for our members and will not tolerate anyone with malice on their mind. If you see it, report it. That's what the "alert a mod" button is for, don't be shy, use it. Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 31, 2008 Super User Posted May 31, 2008 What makes this site so good also hurts the site. I mean, when someone joins and starts to asks the same questions that have been asked before some of our long term members get on them as if they should already know the information. We have to have patience and repeat ourselves with the new guys and gals. It is a part of sharing our information and opinions with others and attracting and retaining members. Also, what helps make this site so user friendly is the elimination of all political banter. We do not need it on this site and the Mods do a super job of eliminating it very fast. If anyone wants any specific informaion they can "PM" anyone and ask for help. I have helped a number of guys and I also will "PM" with some added information to specifically help them when I do not want to "broadcast" the data to the world. And yes, we do kid around with each other, as guys and gals who fish do all the time. It is fun to chide each other, but on a friendly level, about fishing and other subjects. It is how we do things in real life. You know, if everyone knew all there is to know about bass fishing we would not have this site. So it is important that we welcome our new members and treat everyone in a friendly manner. Even if we do make fun of each other now and then. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 To expand on Sams comments, if you see a member and you really like the way he explains thingsd or his patience level or whatever (like Sam,lol) feel free to PM that person with your question. As you read, you'll notice that some guys have niches that they specialize in. Some of these folks are the very best at what they do. (i.e, we have a swimbait crew, a plastics crew, some crankers, etc) If you need something specific or feel that a certain person could answer you best, by all means, contact them. But don't leave us out. Report what you learned in a "Thank You" thread or something like that. and by all means, please try to have patience with some of the newer members. We were all there once. Make the difference to that person, if you are "done" with the particular question, either don't reply or just post a "welcome Aboard" Save the sarcasm for us senior folks Quote
skillet Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I know I have worried several members to death :Pover something I needed to know...and they still "speak" to me ;D!!! As Ever, skillet Quote
