Super User Marty Posted May 21, 2008 Super User Posted May 21, 2008 Just hit 4.00 a gal. in N.E. Ohio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm afraid that in the not-too-distant future we may be longing for the good old days of $4 gas. :'( Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Thank god I pay my truck off this summer and my new job will pay for my gas. Otherwise I'd be up a creek. I'm seriously considering taking my bass boat fund (2 years in the making) and buying a motorcycle with it. I know one thing is for sure, I'm not going to be running a boat engine any time soon. I'm in the market for a tricked out kayak to start my "No-gas Electric Motors Only" (NEMO) Fishing club ;D Quote
ring fry Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I'm taking my 1981 Honda C70 Passport to the shop after work today. It runs but the electrical (6-volt) needs some work done. Last time I checked it got about 65 mpg and my Durango gets 13 mpg. Quote
riverfisher Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Cost me $93.36 to fill up my Expedition this morning cost around 30 bones to fill it up in 1997 bought brand new. Im buying a moped!! Anyone have a Geo Metro laying around I would be very interested? ;D Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 Hitting 4 around here, so not many trips to the river to fun the gas engine. electric only lakes it is. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have two car payments worth of child support each month and 100% of the driving on my days to have her, its 45 miles each way. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 22, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 22, 2008 I paid 4.59 for diesel this morning.....$100 did not fill it up.. Quote
Branuss04 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 it's been hovering right under $4 for the past week. I figure it a matter of a couple days before it gets up there. My parents are kicking themselves for selling their Geo Metro when they did. Cheaply made, but at 50+ miles per gallon... it is the ultimate commuter car. I'm just glad I bought my civic when I did!!!!! Quote
Super User Alpster Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 The Bassbus when totally empty will hold more than $200 worth of gas at today's prices. Ronnie Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 23, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 23, 2008 It cost $125 to fill up the truck a few days ago. AND THAT'S NOT DIESEL!! It would be over $200 if I choose to fill up the bass boat. YIKES! Quote
Super User grimlin Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 I don't know about you guys, but this is gonna cut down my fishing trips. :-/ I think i'm just gonna cut down buying stuff for awhile and only buy what i'm going to use now. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 Had the day off today. Worked on my boat all afternoon. When I got done I looked at the lawn mower, then the boat, then the gas gauge on the truck. $25 went into the boat gas tank and $15 in the truck. Oh well, the lawn ain't going anywhere. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 At least I have an excuse to not cut the grass ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 Price gouging at its finest! Quote
Pond Hopper Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I wish wages increased with the increase of the GPI(gas price index) ;D > Quote
KYbass1276 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Yep I'm feelin it myself as if anybody isn't. I was wanting to buy a nice bass boat this year or maybe next but I'm not even considering it anymore. It would be nice but beating the banks at farm ponds is alot cheaper nowadays although not any challenge. I'm at a point now to where I don't hardly want to fish anymore. I can go to any private pond/small lake and catch them without hardly any effort so it's not much interesting anymore. I thought if I got a boat it would make it more challenging and interesting but I'm not going to go broke just to fish. Quote
NDet-Fishing Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 It's hovering around $3.90 around here. To save money on boat gas, I just bought another trolling motor for my small jon boat. We're floating down river this weekend. It'll take 5-7 hours to make the trip down river burning no gas and hopefully catching many bass Quote

Hey Kentucky, Find another poor soul in your area who already has a boat and offer to split the gas. Everyone wins. Just an idea. Ronnie Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 3.65.9 here in Houston today down from 3.71 yesterday. Quote
rondef Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 It times like this that I am glad that my Lowe 1605 fishing boat has a 25hp Evinrude on it. I can make $30 in gas last me almost a month and that is when I fish both Saturdays and Sundays. I may not get to my spot as fast as others do but I don't feel as much pain when I fill up. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 24, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 24, 2008 Showoff! Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted May 24, 2008 Super User Posted May 24, 2008 I've noticed alot more aluminum boats on the lake these days. Mine included. I love my 90hp Merc. It just goes and goes. Quote
Branuss04 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 The other day I filled up my truck in the morning. It was 3.95 for the cheap stuff. I just happened to look at deisel and it was 4.79. I drove past it that night and the cheap stuff went up to 4.05 and desiel hit 5.09. I was in total awwwwww. To see that $5 sign up was just amazing. I feel very sorry for all the truckers out there trying to make a living. $5 a gallon on a 100+ gallon tank is ridiculous. Quote
wowyo Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 My boat has left the garage for the first time this year... it's in the front yard. maybe someone will offer up some money for a low priced aluminum bass boat. I may not catch the big ones like I caught off that thing.. but fishing off the bank is closer to the house is a whole lot cheaper. Whether it's a 1.5 ounce bluegill or a 7 lb hybrid striper, the whole area knows I have a fish on the end of my line!!!! Quote
