PeterB Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 what is the best out there? i have rapala pro fishing but i dont like the fact that it only allows cranks. what else have you guys tried and liked? thanks. Quote
Big Tom Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Sega 's Bass Fishing Duel. I have heard a lot about this as well. I almost bought it off of ebay not long ago. I have heard its the best console fishing game they have made in a long time. I wish they could really capture the essence of fishing in a video game. They are all way to arcade oriented. I would like one where there is no underwater views and bites could be felt only through the vibration feature on your controller. It would be hardcore but I bet it would be fun. Quote
btcprince Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 ive heard top angler is really good but have never been able to find it to try it. i have rapala and its so-so, i want a bass fishing game, not salmon and crappie game, and having to win tournaments for other species to get to the other bass tournaments suck. its a ps1 game but big bass world championship has stood the test of time for me. its got its flaws, like bass leaving an area on the hour, but the game does make you work, so its pretty good, especially for a ps1 game Quote
bedman Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I also have enjoyed Sega's Bass Fishing Duel. My favorite, however, has always been Bass Strike. It's a little cheesy and sometimes predictable, but I enjoy being able to fish an entire lake, and just not an area. Fighting the fish can sometimes be time consuming and cumbersome, but I think the graphics and lake layouts make up for a lot of it. Rapala's game is terrible when compared to other fishing games. Just awful. Blech. Quote
harshman Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I have a Mark Davis game for PS2 and it is pretty decent. It lets you fish a tourney trail at many different levels. I found mine on ebay for next to nothing. Here is a link to amazon for the game http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008XPJI Harshman Quote
jwo1124 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I don;t wanna seem like the black cloud overhead, but in my expereience, fishing video games are awful. I own Sega Bass fishing Duel and the Rapala Trophy fishing games for PS2 and I dont find them to be fun at all. That's just me though, you can probably pick both of these games up cheap, or rent them first to see if you like them, but fishing games are very boring, and there's just no comparison to real fishing. suede55bowtie Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Bass Strike is definitely my top favorite for PS2. Best fishing game Ive ever played though is probably Trophy Bass 4 for the PC. Quote
PeterB Posted May 20, 2008 Author Posted May 20, 2008 do these other games allow you to fish worms, spinner baits, jigs, ect? Quote
btcprince Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 there's just no comparison to real fishing. right! Quote
suede55bowtie Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 do these other games allow you to fish worms, spinner baits, jigs, ect?] Trophy Bass has around 100 lures, real lakes, boat manufacturers, brand name stuff. I agree, theres nothing that comes close to the real thing, but what about those days where youre sick in bed? or the weather outside is going crazy? ;D Quote
jwo1124 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I agree that these fishing simulations are entertaining on days when its impossible to get out and fish. Although, the gameplay and realism of these games definately needs to be worked on. FOr the most part the graphics to these games are good, and the depth of the games are decent as far as lure choices gocasting fishing the lure, etc. But what really grinds my gears(TM Peter Griffin) is that once you hook a fish it's impossible to land it. For example, when plaing Sega Bass Fishing Duel you'll notice that not only does it seem like it takes forever to reel in a 2 or 3 pound bass, but also, you'll notice that these average sized bass will consistently break 10 lb. test. I don't know about the rest of ya'll but it's never taken me any longer than about 45 seconds to land a bass, and I have never been broken off and I almost always am using 6-8# test. Granted I fish small ponds and my average bass is around a pound, 3-4 lb bass shouldn;t be snapping you off consistently like they do in the game. I'm sure they are just trying to make the game challeneging, which is good at first, but it gets old fast and really takes the fun out of the game. I love fishing more than anyone I know, Aand I refuse to play the game because I get so angry. I found a link to some fishing games for you http://www.gamestop.com/Browse/Search.aspx?N=139+170 Also check GameSpot.com and go to other sports games, they have a few other fishing games as well. Warning: I also own Rapala Fishing, and I don't know if it's just a defect in the game I purchased or its consitent in all of the games but the game will not allow any of the crankbaits to dive deeper than 1foot. Really annoying. I'm stuck using topwaters and the Countdown minnow the whole game. If anyone knows how to fix this or has had this happen let me know. Correcttion: the game I meant is Fisherman's Challenge, not Sega Bass Fishing Duel, I apologize. Quote
