Super User Tin Posted May 11, 2008 Super User Posted May 11, 2008 I'm sad to say I agree 100%, technology, school systems willing to do anything to get students out of the system, parents who don't know how to control their kids and give them everything so they have no work ethic. Can't wait to see the next generation... : Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted May 11, 2008 Super User Posted May 11, 2008 Sadly enough, that is very true and I want to be a teacher. :'( Quote

BucketmouthAngler13 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Yea and im sure the writer is a genius himself. And there you have it. : ? Your not supposed to start a sentence with "and". It shouldn't be "Your" it should be "You're" I have to say the biggest problem is peer pressure. Having good morals, working hard, and striving to excel is frowned upon. Quote
Fish Man Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Whoops lol. In my original post I guess it should be "yeah", right? Also I will agree that peer pressure is the biggest problem. I have been hastled in the past for getting good grades while several of my friends try to do bad because they think it is cool. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted May 12, 2008 Super User Posted May 12, 2008 several of my friends try to do bad because they think it is cool. We'll see how "cool" it is when we're going to college for free and then making thousands more than them. Quote

It's said a person with a college education is most likely to make a million dollars more than a person without a education in there life time. Quote

dave Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Yea and im sure the writer is a genius himself. And there you have it. : ? Your not supposed to start a sentence with "and". While not common in language, it can be done. In this case, it is understood that the first part of the sentence is the entirety of the Dumbest Generation article. The second part is your comment against the writer's absolutely correct observations. What I did was to finish the sentence with my own thought. Therefore beginning it with "And" to make the connection. FYI, it is proper technique to argue a topic based the information but, you cannot argue by just attacking the presenter. Quote
FishingBuds Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 it went down hill when the hippies showed up and the LSD Bus I don't know, Albert Hofmann lived to be a 102 He believed it was medicine for the soul, Nothen like a good trip to make you feel and understand life huh : He lived to 102 because his liver was pickeled Quote
