No Country for Old Men - Very well done although a bit too close to the Fargo formula.  Bardem made a terrific heavy.

Dan in Real Life - Decent chick flick.  Kept waiting for Carrell to bust out the 'That's what she said!' line.

Breach - A little too slowly paced, Chris Cooper did his usual great job.

INTO THE WILD

one of the greatest movies i have ever seen. true story. it is a long movie, but sean penn (the director) does a super job replicating this kids (chris mccandless) life. it was so good, i had to buy the book and i read it straight through. give this movie a go, you will not be disappointed.

"EXPELLED" is a documentary about bias in the scientific/academic community against anything that isn't evolution theory. Ben Stein does a great job of keeping the subject about the 1st amendment, rather than the creation/evolution debate. This is worth a watch if you  think everything is fair and just in our society. It will surprise you.

There Will Be Blood - Very well done.  I expected Plainview to be more of a hardass than he was.

Cloverfield - This one may have cured me of listening to internet hype.  JJ Abrams should be publicly flogged for this one.  His take on Star Trek better be pretty d**n good.

Just watched it last week.  I was surprised at Tommy Lee Jones' role in the movie.  As my son in law said, he almost served the role of a Greek chorus.

Bardem played just about the baddest bad guy ever.  I shudder to think of what his character did to the guy that gave him that hair cut.

I watched 3:10 To Yuma Sunday evening.  I wasn't expecting it to be such a psychological thriller in addition to it being a dandy horse opera.

I found myself being tempted to like Russell Crowe's character, but then he would go and do something really despicable.  I had a girlfriend lake that once.

my dad saw that and said it was great.

Cloverfield - I just rented this one. It was kind of strange and I didn't like the ending, but it was definitely thrilling. The way they shot it from the perspective of a guy with a camcorder was really awesome. At the beginning, it made me think of what it would be like to have been in New York on 9/11, just utter chaos of a huge disaster.

The Big Lebowski - A Coen Brothers masterpiece. Jeff Bridges and John Goodman are superb. Excellent character development with a witty and creative dialogue. Soundtrack is pretty sweet too. I do not think there will ever be a movie as good as this.

Rushmore- Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman. Great dialogue that will leave you in stitches

The Shootist - John Wayne, nuff said.

One I saw a while back that was very good was Fracture. Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins are great and the plot twist is simply amazing. If you like suspense check it out.

As for Shoot Um Up, anybody that can give a woman a happy ending while killing 15+ bad guys at the same time is truly amazing. As for the rest of the movie...pretty lame.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - I went in with high expectations.  Got let down a bit, mostly due to said expectations.  Apatow & Co. have set the bar quite high.

Baby Mama - Much much better than anticipated.  Tina Fey has a great talent.  Amy Poehler was fantastic in her typical role.

I watched some AMC last night and Death Wish was on, and I really liked it. I think I'll watch the 2nd one tonight.

If you liked Death wish you'll love Chrles Bronson in "The Mechanic". Great movie about a hitman. You need to rent that one!

3:10 to Yuma - A decent western.  Found the casting to be a little interesting.

Ironman - The movie I've been waiting 20 years to see.  To say that I was disappointed when Downey was cast as Tony Stark would be an understatement.  My fears were unfounded and he performed admirably.

I'm looking through red & yellow glasses, but easily the best Marvel film to date.  Spider Man can suck it.  ;)
