Super User Jimzee Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 Check out No Country For Old Men One of the best movies I've watched this year. I thought it took a year for movies to get into WV. Reminds me of watching year old movies at the Craigsville drive-in when I was a kid. I guess I'm close enough to PA and MD that some of them filter down this way. ;D Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 24, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2008 True, my experiences with WV are pretty much confined to spending a lot of time in BFE. Quote
Popeye Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Movies I've seen over the past year and liked were "300" (awesome), "Balls of Fury" (funny - Enter the Dragon with Ping Pong Paddles and balls instead of Kung Fu), "3:10 to Yuma" (excellent western that I did not think I'd care for), "Astronaut Farmer" (any BBT fan should like this one), and "Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer" (way better than the original Fantastic 4 and Jessica Alba looks so FINE). Tokyo Tony Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Borat was funny until that one little part in hotel room. :-? I thought it was pretty funny, but that part was just disgusting I saw it with a pretty straight-edged ladyfriend of mine, so that definitely detracted from the movie because I knew she was disgusted by pretty much the whole thing. I'll have to watch it again with some guy friends. Quote
Big T Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 3:10 To Yuma. Awesome movie. If you like westerns this is a no brainer. If you don't like westerns I'd bet that you would still like. This movie kept me intrigued from the very beginning to the very end. Didn't feel like 2 hrs at all. In a good way. Hey I agree, this movie was awesome, Russell Crowe in this movie was the villian that you actually like. The ending was pretty cool as well. T. Quote

ejtaylor822 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Best movie I have seen in the last year (and in a long time) was "Curse of the Golden Flower". Chow Yun-Fat (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and, Bullet proof monk) - awesome as always and incredible in this movie. Gong Li (Miami Vice and Hannibal Rising) is HOT!!!!! I mean, great actress. The cinematics and enormity of the photography and visuals are amazing. Intense battle scenes and the guards "swinging" into the village was incredible. It's sub-titled but worth the effort. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 25, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2008 Shoot 'em Up - Too d**n cartoonish. Quote
frogtog Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I watched Comanche Moon the other night. It was a three part movie I recorded and watched all five and a half hours of it. I don't even know how it ever made it to the screen. It was the worst movie I have ever seen and to think I watched the whole thing. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 27, 2008 Super User Posted January 27, 2008 My wife and I went to see "Bucket List" last night. What a hilarious film. Nicholson has one line that made me laugh to tears. Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson are great together. Well worth the money. Falcon Quote

Olebiker Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I watched Comanche Moon the other night. It was a three part movie I recorded and watched all five and a half hours of it. I don't even know how it ever made it to the screen. It was the worst movie I have ever seen and to think I watched the whole thing. I started watching it, remembering how much I loved Lonesome Dove. After about 20 minutes it was just too painful to continue and I turned it off. Quote

He has always impressed me (as an actor and person) but his portrayal in that role was just mind blowing. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 29, 2008 Super User Posted January 29, 2008 Just watched Juno, hilarious. And Untraceable was really good too. A bit disturbing at time but good. Quote
abelfisher Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Go see the Bucket List! You won't regret it. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 Go see the Bucket List! You won't regret it. I've really been wanting to see it, Morgan Freeman is a GREAT actor. I saw Rambo, the other day, it's not the greatest ever, but it's still a pretty good watch. Quote
Valascus Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Lets see... +1 for ******. "Periwinkle Blue, boys." Seven - Freakin' awesome movie. Ashamed I do not have it on DVD. Fight Club - Another fantastic movie. "Wait, wait...I got it...ah ***** I lost it." (Noticing a trend here yet?) Shaun of the Dead was better than Hot Fuzz, but the last 30 minutes of Hot Fuzz make the entire movie! ;D I just picked up Zodiac on DVD. Haven't had the chance to watch it yet, but have heard great things about it. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 I'm not much of a Will Ferrell fan but my son picked up "Stranger than Fiction" the other night. Great movie. Highly recommend. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 31, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 31, 2008 The Comebacks - God please let this genre die a quick painful death!!! Good Luck Chuck - I hate Dane Cook, beginning to hate Jessica Alba. At least there were plenty of chesticles and Dan Fogler was a riot. Mr Woodcock - Billy Bob isn't funny unless he's uttering 1.3 expletives per minute. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2008 The Gameplan - Please Dwayne, no more family films!!!! The Brave One - I've always hated Jodie Foster. This one did nothing to assuage that hatred. Quote
basspro48 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 The Kingdom was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, great plot, great acting, and awesome fast paced action. Shooter, The Bourne trilogy, and 3:10 To Yuma are some other very good movies that come to mind... Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 I watched a couple good ones the other night. Butterfly on a Wheel - very good surprise ending. Crank - crazy shoot em' up nonstop madness. Quote
