farmpond1 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 That is cool!!! Don't alter it in anyway. Should you ever decide to part with it, it will likely be more valuable in it's original condition. Save the envelope if you have it. Quote
key chain bass guy Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Just wondering.....Has anyone ever seen Zel and Forrest Gump in the same room???? ;D Edit: Please don't take that the wrong way. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I once touched Marty Stone. Serously, these are some interesting stories. Quote
Zel Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Just wondering.....Has anyone ever seen Zel and Forrest Gump in the same room???? ;D Edit: Please don't take that the wrong way. Can't hurt my feelings it's just a fishin' forum. Once you beat a bout with cancer, you realize that life really is short, so enjoy everything, and most importantly Don't sweat the small stuff! And yeah... Sometimes I think the line in the movie Stupid is as stupid does was written just for me. ;D Quote

Zel Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I know key chain bass guy. But I really like that line in the movie. - - - - Years ago, my brother was working as an artist in NYC. A lot of weekends he would head back to our neck of the woods to cleanse his soul. One day he stopped at a McDonalds drive though, outside of the city. This guy in another car thought my brother cut him off. Ric Ocasek (lead singer of The Cars) steps out of the car and comes over to my brother yelling and screaming. My brother gets out of his car and it got loud and nasty. Ric's wife, supermodel Paulina Porizkova, then gets out of his car, holds Ric back, and calmed very body down. My brother also created the graphics you saw on Abu Garcia Spinning Reels in the early 1990's. The guy in the office next to him desinged the look of the reels. Neither were any good of fishermen... go figure. - - - - - - I went to a George Harrison concert at the Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg PA in the mid 70's. After the concert I was near the "tunnel." George was coming off stage had heading to the tunnel. Luckily I had a camera with me. When he got up real close I said "Hey George" and snapped a pic. He gave me the middle finger. I'd have expected that from John maybe, but not George. Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Wow guys, great stories. You know it got me thinking about a story that my father in law once told me about after dinner one night. My father in law was just an awesome guy, he passed away a few years ago now but boy I could listen to him talk for hours. He was in the marines. A sharp shooter and in later years a drill Sergeant, most importantly he was the father of 7 children. Six boys and one girl. I miss him alot. Anyways, while in the marines at one point he was either stationed in or passing though California. (I don't remember which) Well him and a few of his marine buddies decided to go to the movies one afternoon. While they were in the theatre some sort of riot had supposedly broke out outside so when they went to exit the theatre there was chaos going on. One officer in particular grabbed ahold of my father in law. My father in law said look buddy I am not causing any problems, just trying to get out of her. That did not matter to the cop so he preceded to to try to grab ahold of him and tried to cuff him. My father in law was a big man and was just not having that at all so he took a swing at him and the cop was out cold. My father in law and his marine buddies quickly got out of there. Fast forward a few years and my in laws were having dinner with another couple that they were friends with and that couple had another couple over as well. A little while into the dinner conversation the one gentleman starts telling a story that was all to familiar to my father in law. See this guy was a cop in California about 40 years ago and precedes to tell this story about how this big marine knocked him out cold one day and the last thing this guy remember seeing was this big black insignia ring. At this point my father in law (smirking a little) leaned across the table stuck up his fist and said to the guy "Did it look like this?" YOU GUESSED IT! It was the same cop my father in law knocked out 40 years earlier in California. How is that for coincidence? ;D ;D Quote
Jake P Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Mrs.Matstone that is pretty darn cool. Its amazing what you can find just looking through old things. My dad had 2 tickets to a Texas Ranger game when Nolan Ryan was still playing but didnt get to go because he had to do a show out of town that day. Those tickets just happened to be tickets to the last no hitter Nolan Ryan ever threw. My mom was cleaning one day and threw them in the trash . I think it was right around the time they got divorced. He also was on tour for 4 or 5 years with a woman named Janie Fricke in the 80's, im not sure if any of you have heard of here though. He's played the Grand Ole Opry as well. Quote
guitarkid Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Speaking of the Texas Rangers. my Uncle Jim is a minister to company Chapplin out that way in Fort Worth. One summer me and my Grandparents went out that way because he was nominated firefighter of the year. It was pretty cool because we got free tickets to see the Rangers vs. the A's. Then after sitting around for about three innings behind the left field flag pole my cousin came and got me and we sat up in the owners box with his parents. By the way it is pretty nice. -searoach Quote
Bass Tard Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Way too cool everyone! I have another brush with fame story. I grew up as an Air Force brat and spent most of my youth living in places most people will never see. One spot was Hickam Air Force base in Hawaii (1979). I was 16 and took the beach bus one day to do some body surfing and boogie boarding on a beach that tourists didn't frequent much. After a time in the water, my buddies and I got out of the water to take a break. Right next to us sitting on a beach towel by himself was this friendly guy that offered us some soda out of his cooler. We accepted the offer and we talked to him for quite some time. He had been watching us do our thing in the waves and thought it was pretty cool and wanted to show him how to do it. Wlet him borrow some of our stuff and we taught the guy all we new for about two hours. Great guy! I wish he was still around. The man was Sonny Bono. Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 5, 2008 Super User Posted May 5, 2008 Fantastic! Keep on searching those boxes. Quote

Daniel My Brother Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 This is me with Ted Nugent back when I was skinny and had hair. Also got to tour the 'd**n Yankees' tour bus with Tommy Shaw and see the box of panties that women had thrown on the stage during the show. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 5, 2008 Super User Posted May 5, 2008 My father-in-law was a reconnaissance photographer during World War II; he died of cancer during the 1960s. When my mother-in-law passed last year my wife got all of his pictures of enemy bases, UFO actors/actress, military brass, & Queen Elisabeth. My sister-in-law's mother and father on my side of the family were the first military couple married where both husband and wife were in the military. Earl J. Rozas my father-in-law Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I've never come across an "old" treasure but going back to Zels post about being in the movies, I can be seen fishing in "Something About Mary"......never saw any royalties though.... : ;D I also have a few trinkets from the White House when we visited (US Ski Team) but nothing signed or anything like that. Stupid stuff like some napkins from lunch that have the seal on them yadda yadda. If I had kids, it would be cool to think of them finding that shoe box in 50 yrs. IF I had kids, lol. Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 Wow guys, some great stories here. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I have ever met anyone famous. On a side note here I did talk to my mother-in-law and she does not remember what this invite was for. Still was pretty cool though. Quote
