i went fishing today for smallies. i was using senkos and had no succsess. on my third cast a one chased it straight to the top on the rise and then quickly bailed. i was wondering if anyone would give me some other tactics to use for senkos. hooks.presentation.color etc

Don't know where you are or where you were fishing, but generally if fish are chasing your bait and not biting it, you may want to change colors.  Also, if you are sure there are fish in the area, you may want to try vertical jigging with a drop-shot with the Senko wacky rigged.

This time of year I like to throw a green pumpikn 5" senko with a 5/0 hook.  I'm not too picky about EWG or not.  If its murky water I like to use some sort of dark green but with some shiny flakes in there to get their attention.  I cast it all the way to the shore along a drop off, then let it sink, then twitch, sink, twith, sink, twitch, and so on.  I've found that the slower you work it the better the results are.  Just make sure to keep the slack out of the line so you can see and feel a strike better.

hey i am using tiki sticks (same as senkos) and do not currently have a boat. but i am fishing from shore with about 3-5 ft of water then about 12ft out it drops real deep. which way should i rig it and work it?

there is little to no structure and some weeded areas (all open water)

thanks for the help in advance

there are multiple topics stickyied at the top of this forum for senkos

Senkos FAQ check that out

but for me senkos are godly, this is what i do

fav color-black blue laminate

cast it out watch for a line twitch on the fall make sure your line isnt to slack so you can see the hit

then just deadstick it for about 30 seconds, give a small twitch combo 2 or more and then deadstick it again, then lift it up a couple times and let it fall again, (most of your strikes are on the fall) just vary up those combos right there and you will catch fish

i prefer to have mine tex rigged weightless with a 4/0 ewg gam hook

if you figure the senko out it will pay off big time  ;)
