Super User burleytog Posted April 26, 2008 Super User Posted April 26, 2008 I guess it's that time of year again. When I launched this afternoon, there were only two other trailers in the parking lot. Nice and peaceful. An hour or so before dark, I am fishing down lake, hear that familiar sound. Yep, there come two jet fleas just barreling down the lake. I kept hoping they would hit one of the floating logs that I hit earlier. They went back up the lake, thought they were gone. Coming back in to take out, come around the bend to the ramp, there they are in front of the ramp doing their little donuts and jumping each other's wakes. I actually had to stop and wait until they noticed me before I could even get to the dock. Then, once I was there, they started their BS again. Couldn't tie off for fear of their waves pushing the boat into the rocks. Finally, once I get tied off and back the trailer in, they take up the other spot at the dock and crowd the place. 6 people just standing around on a small two slip dock. At least one of them was a nice looking gal wearing a bikini. :-X Now I remember why I avoid large lakes in the daylight. > Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted April 26, 2008 Super User Posted April 26, 2008 One of those mfrs hit my boat the other day when I was launching. There is about a 50 yard circumference around the boat ramp/dock that is NO WAKE. This A'hole in a ski was trying to tow his friends, who were on a raft, off from the dock. The dumb A'hole friends get the raft and rope caught in the dock and dumb A'hole jet skiier keeps revving the throttle trying to unsnag them and runs into the side of my boat as I'm backing off the trailer. I tell ya what, I am not going out of my way to avoid these idiots any longer. I'm idling through a no wake zone in a tourny yesterday when two of them came hauling butt towards me and 3 other tournament boaters and sprayed us. Enough is enough. Would it really be my fault if they happen to run into 100 pound power pro while trolling? Quote

Super User Jimzee Posted April 26, 2008 Super User Posted April 26, 2008 I nearly killed a guy and girl last year when he pulled out in front of me and I was going full bore. I finally caught up with him. He won't be pulling out in front of anyone else, we'll just say that. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted April 26, 2008 Super User Posted April 26, 2008 I always have problems with them here. I just don't understand why they have to go across people fishing in the area and shorelines when they have the whole lake to play in. Besides it's illegal for them to go pass the docks and certain parts of the lake.Talked to one DNR guy out there once and he said they have to catch them doing it before they can do anything to them. > Quote
luger306 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 just keep a old rod riged up with a old rusty crankbait when he comes in casting range you lead them a little and set the hook hard Quote
Super User Alpster Posted April 26, 2008 Super User Posted April 26, 2008 One of the nice things about all of the electric only lakes in my area is no Jet Skis. Ronnie Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted April 26, 2008 Super User Posted April 26, 2008 Them A'holes was one of the reasons I sold my bass boat in 1992 for a 24' Aquasport. Now I'm back to my bass boat and I'm ready for battle. I don't really mind the jet fleas, Its just they tick me off when they violate the water laws and intentionally circle your boat. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted April 27, 2008 Super User Posted April 27, 2008 Jet Fleas? We call them Lake Lice in my neck of the woods. Either way, painintheass parasites. I'm trying to figure a non lethal way to kill them. Quote
guitarkid Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Would it be an accident if their gas is siphoned into your boat? -searoach Quote

Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 They are the same way here .for soem odd reason them a-holes think being close to a boat with ppl fishing is a great way to show off and im on the Cheasapeake bay yall were im fishing i cant see the eastern shore at all and them shytheads think they need to be right up our arses they have no respect for anyone >things are gettin pretty bad on the waters now days u got yuppies with 40 ft boats and have no clue I don't understand they are doin .I cant wait for the day when 300 yards of 12 lb big game gets caught up in the lower unit and strands um ;D Quote
KYbass1276 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Well a good slingshot with some 1 once sinkers and a good aim is a place to start. Or a paintball gun with frozen paintballs is another good way to shoo away the flys. Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I heard about a guy that hit one in the chest (life vest) with a zara spook and set the hook nearly ripping him off the jet ski. I don't know if its true or not but i heard it from a reliable source and it happened a decade or two back, maybe even before I was born lol. Just figured it was a pertinent story to share on the thread Quote
Cujo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Arrghhh!!! They have made me so mad that it has actually ruined my day/evening of fishing. Granted I can't stand them running around the lake, but I would deal with it much better if they only had respect for others. Why if the F'in H'll do they need to hang around the boat launch and act like total a'holes. I am a person who doesn't like confrontation, but after trying several times to put my boat on the trailer without success because of a couple of jet fleas, I was going to take on all 6 of them. I must have sounded pretty frightening cause they all eft. I didnt know I had it in me. If some one gets me that mad something is really wrong. Quote
Olebiker Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I was fishing in a small lake here in Tallahassee yesterday when a bunch of young guys showed up with a Tahoe I/O ski boat. The lake is so small that they could only ski in circles. I really didn't have a problem with them skiing. What I had a problem with was the language they were using. I finally pointed out to them that their voices carry on the water and that there were people on the lake with little children. It didn't stop them. Every time the boat stopped we were regaled by repeated F-bombs. When I left the lake I noticed that the truck that had pulled the ski boat to the lake was owned by a local business. I sent the owner an E-mail last night asking him to have a visit with his son about respecting other people. I am waiting for a response. Quote

Well, I got a response: "I have just received your email and I apologize for the behavior that you experienced at Lake Carr yesterday evening, the boat was being driven by my son and his friends . At this time I have no idea who was using such foul language but it was my son's responsibility to ensure appropriate behavior. This matter will be dealt with sternly. Again, I apologize." Way to go, Mom. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 In Texas it is illegal for a jetskier to harass anyone fishing. They turn them in a lot. Not sure what happens after a complaint is maid, but I know they followup on them. Quote
TruflShufl Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 At my tournament this past weekend we were at weigh in with all the boats tied up at the bank when this idiot started going up and down the cove wakeboarding. Huge reservoir and he insists on wakeboarding in a cove where 100 some odd boats are tied up :-? Quote
