Hey guys, I was throwing up to date photos on my cornsnake forum and decided I'd put em' on here for the likes of Micro and other snake owners.

Raydin is now 1 year and 8 months old.  I'm getting the snake sexed next week so I can pick up a new addition for future breeding at the May 10th Expo in Manassas, Va.  I want to eventually breed and sell corns when I get my own house and not try to do it from my two bedroom apartment.  I want to make it my own project and start from scratch so I have my own line of unique corn snakes and know all there is to know about each one and how they came to be.  It's a long process and a lot of learning for those who haven't researched it.

Raydin is an Amel or Amelanistic Cornsnake (Albino).  I hope to pick up either a Miami Phase, Reverse Okeetee, Snow or Butter at the expo pending on what breeders are there.  This is normally a good time of the year for hatchlings so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway sorry about the quality, took them with my cell phone cause my camera was dead.

Nice!   I was pulling out of my driveway the other day and I saw a rat snake that was about 3' that I moved out of the road. I also caught an indigo snake that was 4-5' last year.

Do you feed him live or dead mice?

I used to have a ball python and a columbia redtail when I was younger.  It was so awesome to hold that rat and have the snake strike it from your hand  8-)

That's a pretty snake.

I fed my kingsnake and my corn live mice last night.  It's interesting to watch their techniques.

You can tell the cornsnake is a mouse-killer.  She grabs, coils, and dispatches in 30 seconds.  I've never seen a mouse last longer than that.  She has a tendency to throw a loop round one way, then a loop around the other way, tighten and twist.  Very efficient.

The kingsnake is a mess.  She's a wild-caught snake and I think she employs her reptile-killing technique to mice.  It takes a lot longer to kill the mouse.  She will pin the mouse down with her body and push against it.  She then grabs the mouse by the top of the head and pulls back stretching the mouse until it can't breathe.   It works, but I'm sure it's more effective on little skinks and other snakes.

Looks cool, not my bag of chips though.

Can one of you snake guys post a link to the snake who got stuck on a fence and showed all his nasty gnarly teeth?

I feed it frozen now.  Thaw it out and drop it in.  Once they get bigger the mice put up more of a fight and I've seen nasty pictures of some snakes with chunks bitten out of them because they weren't hungry and the dumb owner left the mouse in to chill there.

But yea so frozen it is.  It's a heated debate but I fed live the first year.  Definately was cool to watch.

These guys are harmless.  Their "adult full size bite" is the equivalent of a hatchling boa constrictor bite.  I've never been bit by mine.  Tame as anything and loves being handled.  Never had it even attempt to strike me or anyone else that holds it.  I know 9-10 year olds that post in my cornsnake forum and own them as pets.  Harmless.

Anyway.  I have better pics I'll post later that I took with my regular camera last night.  Doing an outdoor photo shoot tomorrow too.  Should have some GREAT pics then.

And of course I'll probably pull this thread back out after my new purchase May 10.

Nice snakes guys. J I had one about that size about two years ago. I used to feed it frozen mice too.

when I ended up getting my dog, I didn't really handle it as much. It got to the point where I only took it out to put in the other aquariam to feed. It started to strike me. Nothing big, pin hole ******. But it did kinda freak me out, so I donated it to this guy and his son. They were into snakes and I knew they would give it more handling time.

Cool pics. I have a ball python and it's about 11 years old. Really nice snake. It struck at me one time but it was because of a rat that was trying to kill it. My mistake because he wasn't ready to eat and the rat decided it was going to fight. I had to kill the rat and my snake was just ticked and was just striking at anything that it could pick up with heat. Didn't injure the snake. btw, If anyone is ever in Wilmington NC, you have to visit the Serpentarium. This place is like a zoo for some of the deadliest snakes in the world. Bushmasters, 18ft King Cobra, spitting cobras, green and black mambas, Fer de Lance, etc...
