aggiebassin Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 just wanted to know some of your favorite night baits. i have never done any nighttime bass fishing, but me and a couple of buddies wanted to try it on a small lake this summer after it gets HOT. i know you want something that puts out alot of vibration/sound and in dark colors. here are some of the baits i was thinking of trying. buzzbaits/rage shads/ribbits/other buzz frog type baits black spinnerbaits and black chatterbaits black jigs w/ rattles dark big 10-12" worms am i missing anything? i will say we are probably not gonna use baits with treble hooks b/c if we go there will probably be 3 of us on a 17' bass boat. and i won't feel like going to the hospital at 4 in the morning...haha Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 24, 2008 Super User Posted May 24, 2008 Fish the same baits, same locations, and same techniques you would during the day. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted May 24, 2008 Super User Posted May 24, 2008 X2 except with 3 guys in a boat, I'd not be throwing anything with treble hooks on the first outing. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 24, 2008 Super User Posted May 24, 2008 I guide at night and I have found that BIG BASS DEEP WATER! The only time that I fish topwater at night is a BIG black jitterbug or when I hit the slop. But 90% of a big bass,s life is spent in deep water. I have caught alot of bass in water from 10 ft. to 40 ft. at night and they are good size, from 5lbs to 8 lbs. And yes big worms, jigs, but one bait that I have done very well with is, the Netbait Baby Paca Craw and the Paca Craw on a T-rig and a C-rig. Quote
Bass XL Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 My #1 producer for night time bass fishing would be a Black/Chart. Power Craw on a shakey head. Quote
HesterIsGod Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Fish the same baits, same locations, and same techniques you would during the day. x2 Quote
hawgchaser Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 IMO night fishing is much different than day fishing. Big black Colorado blade spinners slow rolled on the bottom and 10" Power Worms are my favorite for big night time bass. Quote

Ben W Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Definately a big black jitterbug!! I've never tried it, but my dad has caught some 2-3 lb bass along the shorline at night. Quote
TENNESSEE NEWSOME Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I use big plastic tubes T-rigged. I love draggin tubes off rocky ledges and over points. If crawfish are primary food sources on the lake you fish, give it a try. I use Berkley worms in shallower water. But my confidence is in fat tubes where I fish. Quote
ILL_BASS Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 My number 1 night bait is a baby paca craw with a big 7mm bps glass tube rattle in it!! DEADLY at night (not to shabby in the day either)!! Quote
woodmaker Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Hello guys. Interesting talk about night fishing. I am building a new swimbait lure that is targeting fish just underneath the surface. I would like to hear what colors works better than others? Thx. Michael Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted May 27, 2008 Super User Posted May 27, 2008 My number 1 night bait is a baby paca craw with a big 7mm bps glass tube rattle in it!! DEADLY at night (not to shabby in the day either)!! Yes this is a great bait!! Would like to add that I have been having most of my success with the Rage Craw.It obviously puts off tremendous vibration. I use it c-rig,t-tig,weightless,shakey head.I use a rattling weight or a brass and glass. Another great tactic is use a pegged rattle weight which can easily be slid up the line to create a carolina/split shot type presentation. I highly recommend the Rage. This lure flat out produces in the dark Quote
