Branuss04 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I got hooked a week ago. I just started getting caught up on all the episodes and am ready for the new ones to start. It is a cool show. I would die out there, that's some tuff work!!! Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Great show! (I think Mike Rowe should be more involved with it though, he is HILARIOUS! ;D) Quote
daviscw Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I LOVE that show. I was excited for tonight's episode after watching 2 weeks of re-runs. Those dudes have balls! Quote
Jake P Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I LOVE that show. I was excited for tonight's episode after watching 2 weeks of re-runs. Those dudes have balls! thats an understatement. Negative degree weather, huge waves crashing down on you, large metal objects swinging around your head and very strong winds not to mention the long hours and physical exhaustion. You wouldn't catch me out there. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 16, 2008 Super User Posted April 16, 2008 The job has one of the highest Workers' Compensation loss ratios of any of the professions covered. Usually the Work Comp is placed in the Assigned Risk as the standard carriers will not entertain this type of risk. But it pays really good money, if you can live through it. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 16, 2008 Super User Posted April 16, 2008 I got hooked on it when it first started. If I was a young man I don't think I could handle that. And the Wizard, getting it's hull split on the way to port before the season even starts and a patch job on the hull? I don't think I'd be getting on that boat, sorry. Quote
bassnleo Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I liked the new episodes. Unfortunately I did not get to see the whole second episode that was on last night. What happened, anything worth staying up for? Quote

And the Wizard, getting it's hull split on the way to port before the season even starts and a patch job on the hull? I don't think I'd be getting on that boat, sorry. That's what I told my wife. No freakin' way. The Captain was like "Eh, that will do until we can get real steelwork done." I was sitting there thinking "Dude, you just got a hole tore in your boat and you weren't even on the Bering Sea yet. Now you are going out there crab fishing through Arctic storm fronts with a patched boat?!?!" No thanks. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted April 16, 2008 Super User Posted April 16, 2008 Maybe the captain of the wizard had experience with this problem before on another boat and lived! So maybe hes confident!! It be interesting to watch hopefully the boat wont sink. Quote

KYbass1276 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Did you happen to hear how much the crew of the early dawn pay was for catching brown crab was. I think that was the name of the boat I don't remember them last year, Anyway they caught 1.9 million dollars worth of brown crab maybe it was red don't remember and each member of the crew get 90,000 dollars. And now there off to join the rest of the fleet for the red crab season. I'm curious to see if the make there quota how much they will get from that as well. Thats alot of money but it's all hard earned Quote
-HAWK- Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Imagine working a couple months out of the year and making 90k. That would be the perfect job for a young guy with no family, and no worries. Quote
fooman Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 That 90K is for a couple of days I believe.. The best part was the crew of the Time Bandit took out a Ford F250 body and tied it to the Cornelia Marie crab basket.. Quote
Branuss04 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Do you guys know if you can go online and watch the episodes like some other shows. I missed it last night, it sounded like a good one. Quote

The best part was the crew of the Time Bandit took out a Ford F250 body and tied it to the Cornelia Marie crab basket.. I remember an episode where a greenhorn worked for 3 days and make $4,100 and 1% of profits. It's crazy. Also, I would be beaten black and blue if I had used my dad's credit card without his permission like that boy did last night. I'd say that dudes just brave for attempting something like that! Quote
Super User grimlin Posted April 16, 2008 Super User Posted April 16, 2008 I saw an ad a few months back for hiring on some boat(forgot which one it was now).I believe it was 80K for 4-5 months. Quote
Yakfish Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Great show. I DVR'd every episode last season and am waiting for new ones. What a job. The pay off is incredible but you're literally taking your life in your own hands and putting it in the hands of others. It would be the experience of a lifetime though. Quote
FishingBuds Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I liked the new episodes. Unfortunately I did not get to see the whole second episode that was on last night. What happened, anything worth staying up for? awsome show, I don't have the back for that work I think it was 2cnd season where the greenhorn lost it in the head and wanted to jump over board? Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted April 16, 2008 Author Super User Posted April 16, 2008 im not sure what season it was but i remember watching thinking just let him jump............lol. Quote
