300,000 Miles

I reached 300,000 miles on my Volvo on Monday.

I am shooting for 500,000 but my wife is have a fit saying that I need a new car or SUV that can pull the boat.

I can pull the boat OK with the Volvo (quite a sight to see) so I think I will keep the car for a few more miles.

Anyone out there have or had a high mileage car?

If so, let us know and the miles you, a family member or a friend have now or have reached in the past.

Well, I had almost 260,000 miles on a old 1988 F-350 with a 460 big block before we got rid of it. It's still running for the new owner.

I have a '92 Honda Accord that just passed to 200,000 mark and still going STRONG.

I also pull my boat with it, but I just have a little utility trailer and a 10' two man boat.  I got tired of using my dad's truck and having to fill it up when gas started getting so expensive.  It paid for itself in two months.

I graduate in May and may buy a new truck or SUV when I start a new job, but no way in hell am I getting rid of the Accord.  Just not worth it for what I could get for it.  I will drive the thing until the day it dies; and by the way it's going it won't be anytime soon.

My dad had a 1982 Chevy Custom Delux with about 330,000 miles on it when he sold it to a friend about 4 years ago maybe more and then his friend sold it and I still see it around town every once in a while. It has to have at least 360,000 miles on it now. Original Motor, Original Transmission. Chevy Straight 6. Awesome truck, went on a lot of fishing trips riding in that truck with no AC.

I was shooting for 300,000 with my '91 Chevy pick-up but at 286,000 she got a little moody, so I listened to my wife and got a new one.

I had an 86 Jetta go for 331,000.  This current one (99) is nothing like the old one, I'm at 140 and she's limping.

I think it might be time to try a truck, I plan on pulling the saltwater boat a lot this year.

93 Accord @ 235,000 miles. I plan on keeping it for the rest of my life (I have friends with similar cars and alot of spare parts/motors). It's just too dang good of a car.

Bought it for $400 too, and I drive it back and forth from Wichita to Pburg (170~ miles)all the time without even thinking twice. Best investment I've ever made.

My grandfather has an 04 dodge 2500 4x4 with 1.5 million miles on it... ya hard to believe, he has refreshed the engine every 300,000 miles.  Since it is a cummins u can do it right in the truck in about 10 hours.  He owns a wide load escort company and is on the road all the time, pretty much non-stop thats why there are so many miles on it

My 1969 Mustang had 240,000 miles on it before I GAVE it to my best buddy after I graduated the police academy and could afford a new truck.   It was a straight 6 with 3 on the floor.

It  can be done inded oil changes mean everything for a diesel and them 30 dollar filters fuel and oil mean the diff in a million miles and only a few

1997 Toyota T100 201k. Going strong I am going to have to get some body work done on her. These winters with the salt start to catch up with vehicles up here. I had a friend who had a Toyota it rusted out beneath him long before the engine started to sound tired.

Right now I have a 93 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 and 188,000. Still runs strong and burns no oil.

I had a 94 Thunderbird with a 4.6 that had well over 300,000, probably closer to 4-500,000 miles on it when I sold it. Don't really know for sure as the odometer quit working on it shortly after I bought it with 125,000 showing. Drove it 80 miles a day to and from work for almost 5 years after that plus alot of long distance family vacations. It was starting to burn some oil, but still ran pretty strong when I sold it.

my '95 suburban has 235,000 and still going strong, my previous vehicle, an '86 suburban had 301,000 when i got rid of it, they drove it to chicago and back sortly after getting it (from north alabama). both have 350 engines and needed only general routine maintenance. i only traded it off because i had gotten the wife a newer model suburban, i took the '95 from her sinceit was 4WD and i originally got it for her so that i could inherit it later. i juat couldnt see keeping three suburbans along with two pickups, upkeep and insurance was getting out of hand. the chevy 250 was a tough engine, the newer suburban has the 325 engine, i hope its a good one too.

my dad's old rinky dink nissan had 200,000 on it. that thing was a major piece of junk. the pleather was torn to shreds on the seats, it was all dinged up, there was a big smash mark where someone backed into him, it had been thru several mufflers, he even ducktaped the sude mirror on cuz it fell off!

he sold it shortly after the 200,000 mile mark for 800 bucks.

Remember I am only pulling a 10' two man boat on a utility trailer.  Total the whole package probably weighs less that 600 lbs.  But it does do surprisingly well.

I got the hitch installed and wired for a little less that $200.  Be sure to call around and get some quotes.  I found that Uhaul was the most expensive by almost double.  I found that surprising.
