Super User Redlinerobert Posted April 8, 2008 Super User Posted April 8, 2008 This ad is really ticking some people off. It was meant for the market in Mexico only, creating quite the commotion.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080408/us_nm/mexico_absolut_dc
Cigarlover 1 Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Wow. What a horrible idea by Absolut marketing. I can't believe there wasn't one person that saw this before it's release and said "ya know maybe this isn't the best idea for an ad".
Popeye Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 That add has been withdrawn from their marketing campaign.
carySE406 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I think they fixed it and now are advertising with this:
eastkybass Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 The map is an Old 1820's map. That is what things looked like before Texas broke free from Mexico and the U.S./Mexico War (happened right before the Civil War). NOt the best of Maps to use in any Ad campaign but you don't see it very often.
KYbass1276 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Well considering the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised when the whole map is green. It' pretty much getting that way now. Can't go anywhere any more without a bunch of illegals all over the place.

It is not a historical map per se, it is a map showing what it would be like if the United States had not taken/bought all that land from Mexico.
=Matt 5.0= Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I don't really see what the big deal is.... Americans are quite foggy when it comes to history.

BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted April 10, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted April 10, 2008 A couple of thoughts on this subject: My family has been in this country for over 200 years now, but even we came from somewhere else. I have had over 150 employees in the last 12 years and I now have this employment policy. If you were born in this country and under 30 I will NOT hire you. You are most likely arrogant, lazy, no work ethic, and want to be paid premium dollars for very little effort.

As for your employment policy, have you considered outsourcing your business to another country? That way you wouldn't have to worry about hiring any of us young legal American citizens. ;D
Super User Tin Posted April 10, 2008 Super User Posted April 10, 2008 I like that "Oh Snap" much more than the other one Burley. ;D
