Olebiker Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Does anyone here have any experience with Sportsman's Warehouse? They are going to open a store here in Tallahassee this summer. I have looked at their web page but I can't tell much about the stores or their pricing. Quote
jrhennecke Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 We have one here in Rocklin. They carry a pretty nice selection of stuff and their prices seem resonable. Quote
skillet Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 They opened one in Memphis not too long ago. Might just be me, have heard good things from folks, I didn't think they had enough selection. Prices on what they had was OK though... As Ever, skillet Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 28, 2008 Super User Posted March 28, 2008 Hey Ole Biker, Those stores look nice. Sort of like BPS and Gander Mountain. Since they don't sell regular sports stuff and do sell hunting and fishing gear it has to be good. When it opens please give us an update. Would be wonderful if they headed out east towards Virginia. IneedAnewScreenName9886691 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 We have one. Kind of like a scaled down Cabela's or Bass Pro. Good selction but not everything (or close to everything) better than Wally or most local bait shops. Prices are usually MSR. Nice to have - I use ours farily often. Quote
Super User flechero Posted March 29, 2008 Super User Posted March 29, 2008 They have several stores in TX. All of the ones I have been in are very well stocked and the prices are great. I shop at Sportsman's regularly. Service and prices beat BPS/Cabela's/Academy/etc. hands down. It's my favorite store for fishing gear. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 29, 2008 Super User Posted March 29, 2008 They just opened one here about 3 months ago, I go there at least once a week and sometimes twice a week. I believe SW and BPS are somehow connected down the line. I sure am glad its here, Dick's was slacking in the fishing dept, now they've stepped it back up since SW came to town. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 29, 2008 Super User Posted March 29, 2008 Watch for sales...that place has some real nice sales on stuff if you catch them at the right time. I really like mine, they just opened one here not too long ago. Quote
bassnleo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I have one about 60 miles away, it's actually the closest store of it's kind to me, a trip to Dicks or Gander Mountain is about the same distance. The SW here is pretty good and like already mentioned, they have alot of stuff, much more than a Wal-Mart, Dicks, GM, but less than Bass Pro. All in all I like the store and am glad at least there is one fairly close. Quote
Olebiker Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 This is good news because all we have within 100 miles or so is Sports Authority, Walmart, and one pretty good local shop. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 we have one here in las cruces new mexico it has alot of selection of tackle, rods, reels everything with fishing and hunting. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I kind of like the place as they have one near the hotel we stay at when we visit my daughter in Wisconsin. I think I mainly like it as it is so close to where we stay. I get up earlier then everyone else and walkt to it. They have a lot of stuff. They seem to have milions of lures. They have qlmost every brand of rod. All that aside the one I visit's prices were not that great. Absolutely nothing was on sale and it was a weekend in late winter ( very late ). They had a nnice reel selection but some were pretty old models. Bottom line it beats Dick's Quote
IDbasser Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I have 2 within an hour drive. I really like them. About the only place for me to get anything. Quote
skillet Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I guess I need to go back and take another look :-[... As Ever, skillet Quote
Hillbilly_Hooker Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I shop in the same store as Five Bass Limit. I've been impressed with the selections offered, not BPS or Cabelas, but definately better than anything else we had previously. The sales clerks have always been helpful and friendly and I got a great deal on a Stearns rainsuit that had been drastically marked down. I was also impressed, while fishing an open charity tournament recently, at the level of support that SW gave our tournament. They donated several gift cards and other merchandise. As far as corporate donations, theirs was likely the largest... I was impressed and will definately give them my business in the future. Quote
Daiwa Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 The one here in Coon Rapids is kind of lame. Its turning into more of a clothing store. It had like 2 isles of fishing. Im going to wait till summer and try again because they had mostly ice fishing stuff. Quote
