fish-fighting-illini Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 It looks like if you use a credit or debit card that stores are sucking the information out of the transaction and using it for marketing. Where did I give them permition to record my info and use it? This just kind of rubs me the wrong way and ticks me off? On the lighter side... As a result I get a free "panty of the month" coupon from Victoria Secret. Just how many thongs do they think I need! Great, now the post office probably thinks I'm a cross dresser! Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 29, 2008 Super User Posted March 29, 2008 Where did I give them permition to record my info and use it? Probably when you signed something and didn't read all the fine print. Quote

It could be from some other source I guess but...????? Yeah I'd say it's more likely they got it through some other means, I don't know how but I'd say it's likely. Besides, they couldn't get all of that information from a credit card transaction. All the card contains is CC number, name, and exp date; they would have to acquire your billing address through the CC company and I'm sure that's against their privacy policy. So I think you can rest easy. Well, until RFID cards become the next big thing... :-X I hope I never see that day. Quote
