Post count means nothing for me. I spend a lot of time on here because work is easy. I use to be a police officer in a gang unit, now I'm sitting behind the desk regulating taxi and tow truck companies because of an enlarged heart. This site help me through the day.

I'm a very friendly guy and try to get along with everybody.Unless you rub me the wrong way i don't have problems with anybody.

........I'm glad that you said that. I think that's how most people are here. Sadly, It takes 10 of you to counter balance the nonsense of one person.

I was hoping that one of the mods would say that tolerance for unnecessary confrontation is declining. Thanks LBH. I would hate to see solid contributors leave because some people don't know when to shut their mouth.

Don't sweat it dude, that's the whole point of it.

I have a theory about why this seems to happen with people about once a month:

Someone will make a post that is rude or passive aggressive on the forum and then wait for affirmative responses that validate it. That way they can identify more with the person they want everyone to think they are. When the e-friends agree with some sort of controversial statement, that person feels like they have earned the label of the type of guy who - doesn't pull punches, or love em' or hate em' is a straight shooter - and goes to bed at night feeling like people respect him as an alpha male because he wasn't challenged. As a result, those people think they need to supply edgy comments that illicit others to say "Oh look, more edgy commentary from (insert d-bag) again." They can't see that sticking feathers in your butt doesn't make you a chicken.

The point is that it's a safe way to compensate for all of the things they wish they really were. At home, they see the real person they are and are unhappy with the hollowness of their mild, average life. Unfortunatly, for everyone who is secure with who they are it has to be endured in a place where those people don't run the risk of getting taken to the ground and beaten as a result of their sour disposition towards others. Enter the world wide web.

Sadly, We can't slap someone when they cross the line here. Rest assured though that more than a few people on the forum recognize who the d-bags are.

Sorry for the wordiness.

Everyone please welcome Dr. Phil to the forums!

Just kidding WIII-60, that post is pretty deep though. And for the most part, right on the money.

Funny. The clapping hands made me laugh out loud. :)

I joined about a year ago and I'm online several times a day. As you can see my post count is very important to me.

I don't understand why people are so set on getting a high post count. It doesn't make any difference...We've had (and still have) people who are so intent on making their post count higher that most of their posts are useless, one-sentence generic remarks that don't contribute to anything. That guy that got banned for spamming the board a little while ago used to do that all the time--he'd post stuff like, "Cool." or "Awesome, great job" for 85% of his posts. And he'd have 15-20 posts a day! We still have people that do that and I'll never understand it. Maybe if you got a prize or something... but it means nothing, so why clutter the forum and waste the time?

I look for post counts just to see how new someone is to this site.  It tells me nothing about their skill, only if I should welcome them or not....I remember being welcomed and it's the reason I'm still here.

I do notice that there are some who shall remain nameless that seem to have a lot of  posts in a short time...but all that means is they are most likely like my daughter and can't keep there mouth shut... ;D

Don't worry about "post count", we appreciate every member whether they are a daily part of the community or a someone who only pops in when they have a question. There are all kinds if members, but we're all equal, regardless of something as trivial as post counts.

LBH, you could have given yourself a lot of power ;D

my post count doesnt matter to me; but that being said, having a blue name IS pretty tight LOL

How is it that it is almost April and we are discussing post counts and the most E's at the end of WEEEEEEEEEE? I figured the My Fishing Trip section would be where all the good stuff is. ::)

Here's my thoughts:

1. Post count means nothing.  Period. I don't give a hoot how many posts somebody has.  All I care about is that they interact and contribute to the forums.

2.  With that in mind, post as much as you want, as often as you want.  The only stipulation I ask is that people refrain from posting one response after another that's nothing more than "I agree", or "Yup", etc.  I'm not so much concerned about "padding posts" as I am about people making useful contributions.  Congratulating people on good catches with a "nice fish" is one thing, but posting response after response with just a smiley face or a "me too" kind of response really doesn't add much to the to forums.  I'm not saying don't do it all, just use moderation.

3.  As far as people ridiculing others about post count - most often it's done in jest and meant to make you feel welcome, no harm intended.

4.  For those that really do put some sort of emphasis or value on post count - they don't really understand the dynamics of these forums.  I would encourage those folks to simply ignore post counts.
