There is 3 boys in my family my older brother myself and my younger brother, the dog is very protective of my family barks at anyone that walks bye but he is mild with us he likes to play rough but thats it, but for some reason he gets in moods where if my little brother trys to pet him then he starts to show his teeth and growl a little he dosent do this to anyone else in the family he just dose it to my little brother and one of his friends thats the only people ive seen him do it to. Sorry about the length haha Thanks if anyone can help

Question with NO IMPLICATION meant: has your little brother and/or his friend EVER mistreated or teased your dog in any way?? I am absolutely NOT accusing here, just asking a question. Sometimes dogs have an incident like that instilled into their brains and get very defensive of themselves around someone who has done something to them in the past. Just a thought.

That is one possibility.  Another is does your brother act submissive to the dog?  Or seem slightly frightened by the dog?  Maybe he needs to show the dog he is in control, not the other way around.  Sometimes subtle gestures is all it takes.

Dogs in a human environment will still be in "pack" mentality.  They see that family as the pack.  The dog is trying to make his place in the pack.  That is one of the reason dogs attack babies in the family.  They are doing what comes natural,  they don't mean to hurt the baby but,  the baby is too fragile.  Your brother needs to assert his position firmly and carefully and gently.  Be careful.  Or everyone else is correct and you need to keep and I on your brother and his friends.  You don't say how old your brother is.

he is a 11 and i highly doubt he would mistreat the dog he likes him way too much. i do see the posibilty of him being submissive/scared of the dog though becuase my little brother is scared to say no to do the dog becuase he thinks he might be mean.

thanks for that tip about bassectomy, slomoe

Dogs can get aggressive when they sense fear, at least that's what I've always been told.

MAYBE Your dog needs to be around more people, Take the dog to the park  let new people pet it

We just got a boxador (lab and boxer mix) My family loves her we take her to little league games and she loves people

But If I come home drunk at 2:30 a.m. she growls as soon as I open the door.

Maybe more interacting with new people is your answer
