Stupid Warnings on Everyday Products!

Ok guys chime in.  This thread could be fun, thanks to Roadwarrior I came up with the idea.  All of us see random warnings on everyday products out there that blow our minds.  SOMEBODY had to be dumb enough to go ahead and do the most irrational thing with the product that the company had to prompt warnings on the product for future use.

My example:

"Warning: knives are sharp" - Our latest cutlery set from Bed Bath and Beyond...

OHHHHH... it all makes sense now!

I always thought the label on fishing products was pretty silly. "Warning: This product contains lead, a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm."

Because of one idiot there is now a warning on snow blowers. "Not for use on Roofs!" As my two daughters always said when they were younger. Dahhhhh!!!!

Hey Dan the first time my wife saw that picking up sinkers for catfishing rigs she said the same thing.  I always thought that was dumb.

What even sadder or funnier is people that cut them self or got cancer from cigerette etc, are suing those company for not putting the labels on them. :

A woman went through a drive thru and spilt coffee on legs (she was wearing a dress) and she sued mcdonald for making coffee too hot!! HAHAHAHAH how hilarious! HAHAHAHAHAAH

10.) "Warning: May contain small parts." -- On a frisbee.

9.) "Do not use for drying pets." -- In the manual for a microwave oven.

8.) "Do not use as ear plugs." -- On a package of silly putty.

7.) "Warning: has been found to cause cancer in laboratory mice." -- On a box of rat poison.

6.) "Caution: Remove infant before folding for storage." -- On a portable stroller. (common sense...)

5.) "Beware! To touch these wires is instant death. Anyone found doing so will be prosecuted." -- On a sign at a railroad station. (Prosecution?!  :-? Talk about electrocution!  )

4.) "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly." -- On a child sized Superman costume. (just ruined the kids imagination...)

3.) "Do not attempt to stop the blade with your hand." -- In the manual for a Swedish chainsaw. (what moron tried this??)

2.) "Warning! This is not underwear! Do not attempt to put in pants." -- On the packaging for a wristwatch. ;D ;D ;D ;D

1.) "Do not use orally." -- On a toilet bowl cleaning brush. (Who would do this????) ;D ;D ;D :-?

Mcdonald did lose a milion bucks in this case. Cant remember when, but it was discussed in one of my Business law class.

Then your professor didn't know anything about the case either.

Did you know that McDonald's had already paid off more than 700 other people who were burned by their coffee?  That McDonald's served their coffee significantly hotter than all other restaraunts?  That McDonald's did this because it was cheaper to pay for people's injuries than to pay for more free refills?  That the woman suffered third degree burns over 6% of her body and lesser burns over 10 more %?  How would feel if you had all of the skin burned off your crotch?  That she had to have skin transplants and debridement treatments?  That she was in the hospital for 2 weeks?  That she only wanted $20K to pay for her medical bills?  That McDonald's offered her $800?  That a mediator said that McDonald's should pay her $225K?  That the $2.4 mil award amount was reduced to about $640K?  That she further settled for LESS than that amount?

All of the above was part of the court proceedings and used as evidence in the trial.  There is much more where that came from if you're interested.

As far as I know, none of the other ones went to trial.  They were settled outside of court which means that they were confidential.  This is the only one that is public knowledge.

Well this isnt a label but it is a law in Manitoba Canada that it is illegal to push a moose out of an airplane and you know that someone has had to do this for them to make it a law haha.

There are so many stupid laws that they deserve an entire new thread!

Another warning label that I find funny is on toothpaste.  Something to the effect of if you consume more than the amount used to brush your teeth you should seek medical attention!
