BOOYAH Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Went out scouting today and found a couple groups in the area i want to hunt. My season ain't until april but was good to get out an see some. Called 3 within shooting range so that was kind of fun. I hope you get back out an get a good one tomorrow. GOOD LUCK!!! Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted March 22, 2008 Super User Posted March 22, 2008 Our season starts in early April. I'm PUMPED. I've never been scouting for turkey, but I scout deer every year. My dad and I are heading up to the woods to see if we have any flood damage on our cabin. I might try to scout the turkeys. Anybody have any advice? Quote

What happened to the punctuation? S. Florida hunting sucks for deer and turkey. Quote

CJ Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I guess we gotta new "board police"! Season hasn't started here either. So, was you trying to bushwhack em' or was you callin'? Quote
georgiabassfisherman Posted March 23, 2008 Author Posted March 23, 2008 Sorry about the punctuation you guys. I will try to remember from now on. Anyway i was calling to the turkey, and i went back this afternoon and put him to bed so I know which tree he is in and all so I will be ready for him in the morning as soon as he hits the ground. CJ Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Cool, hope you knock him off his.......uhhh....feet! Quote
georgiabassfisherman Posted March 23, 2008 Author Posted March 23, 2008 Wow this morning pretty much sucked at first but then it got better. I go to where the gobbler is and the owner is burning the freakin fields off which really sucks. So I went to a place near my house where I knew there were some turkeys and as soon as I stepped out of the truck one gobbled. Well by the time i got set up he was on the ground and headed away from me and nothing I could do would turn him around but atleast now I know where another good gobbler is so i guess it wasnt too bad. powerman970 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I got 2 on opening weekend which was March 15th and 16th. One was a nice bird (1.25" spurs 9.5" beard). The other was a young bird (no visible spurs, 8" beard). Very nice beard for such a young bird. I figure I'll go ahead and knock off a couple more but I have to save at least one for the fall season or I'll go nuts later in the year. We can only kill 5 per year between the two seasons. Quote
