telecaster Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Big-t ;Glad your doing well.Cancer is,is a tough and sometimes lonely thing to deal with, even with family and friends around. Yesterday,is one year, since I had surgery for colon cancer.Six months of chemo later,a few CTscans and last week a follow up colonoscopy.I seem to be,for the time being cancer free.I have another CTscan next month sometime, and hopefully all my other innards will continue to look good. The day they remove the port thats installed in me is the day I'll really feel confident I'm gonna beat this thing. If any of you folks are dealing with chemo, and want to vent,or just talk.Feel free to post or PM me. peace jim Quote
PaparockArk Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Hi, Jim, I will be including you also in my prayers. My father had colon, liver and a third cancer that I believe was in his pancreas. Last year I also had a colon scare but it tested benign so I understand brother. Peace and healing to you. May all you tests be clear and your lines tight with big bass! Rocky Quote
Big T Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Big-t ;Glad your doing well.Cancer is,is a tough and sometimes lonely thing to deal with, even with family and friends around. If any of you folks are dealing with chemo, and want to vent,or just talk.Feel free to post or PM me. peace jim Thanks Jim, Just to keep everyone up to date. My tumor was a grade 1, which is considered benign/pre cancerous. The type of tumor I have usually responds to surgery and/or radiation. Most of the time it does not require chemo. I start my radition tomorrow. They have decided not to do radition to my full spine, and brain. Just localized in the lower spine. The reason being is the risk of damage to areas of my spine that were not affected were greater than the risk of the tumor returning in those areas. The doctors at Duke said that they would treat those areas at later date if the tumor were to return in those areas. Thanks for everyone's prayers and thoughts. Tony Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Big T Prayers from my family to you and your family. Good luck on the treatment! Be strong, kick this thing in the rear end! FFI AKA - Matt Crum Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Unfortunately I too must ask for your prayers and well wishes. My niece just found out that she has breast cancer. From the time she deteced the lump until they did the biopsy the tumor had grown very fast. It is a little early yet on a verdict as they are planning her treatment as we speak. The kid is only approx 28 years old no less and has a very good heart, nice young woman with 2 young children. Her grandmother having survived breast cancer herself feels somehow responsible so the family is in turmoil. Keep your fingers crossed as well as she may need all the help we can give her. PaparockArk Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Take care of yourself Muddy; you are in my thoughts and prayers as well. I need to walk and lose some weight myself but a painful knee has been hindering me. I finally got in to see a specialist to look at my right knee I had rebuilt about 20 years back by a sports surgeon. It had never given me any problems till the last couple of years with arthritis setting in to it. I was hoping for just the need of a lube job but it's a no go. They say that one whole side of the knee is about to go bone on bone so I will need a knee replacement in the not too distant future. Note to you younger types: they do don't tell you these things will come back to haunt you later in life and when you are younger you think you heal and it's over. It's not! Ask older in life former athletes those joint injuries take on a life of their own. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Muddy great idea on the 3 month plan way to get proactive. Good luck on Monday we'll be thinking of you. C'mon Muddy you know its really your favorite procedure!!! P-rock Amen So far so good on my knee but I had one fixed at age 30 big time torn up playing soccer. It has never been the same I can feel it every hour of every day doesn't hurt you just know it isn't right though. I also umpired baseball and softball for almost 25 years. Many years 3-5 nights per week plus 12-14hr days on Sat & Sun's I'm worried about the combination for the future. Quote
telecaster Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Muddy;not that its anybodies business, you mentioned your blood work was terrible. Was that refering to your diabeitas,or or being aneamic or maybe c.e.a. level thing.I dont mean to pry, you mentioned it..I wish the best for you. The Colonoscopy Day Festivities, are great fun..This year they canceled the fireworks cuz of lack of funding, how I missed that giant *** they shoot the fireworks from, and the parade..Keep a good altitude, part of being well is thinking well.. peace jim Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Well, It was a nice 5 month run but our daughter is back in the hospital again with the same symptoms. At least we ( more importantly she ) got the short break that we did. Wish us luck we will need it again. FFI - AKA Matt Crum Quote

fish-fighting-illini Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 P-Rock, Jr, Muddy thanks for the support. She's doing a little better. She started eating last night and might get out tomorrow. No long term solutions but better than the present situation. She might be able to salvage this semester possibly at this rate. That helps keep her on the insurance which is good. Quote
WIII-60 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Hey FFI, PM'd man. Muddy, I know you didn't ask but.......anytime I do anything active like running a distance, pull-ups, push-ups, etc. I count backwards from my goal to zero. I'm pretty dumb so I fool myself into thinking that's it's easier that way. Take care of yourself man. Quote
