Fish Man Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 ive been getting into it the past several months and bowled for my school league and was wondering if anyone else on BR enjoys it? Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 8, 2008 Super User Posted March 8, 2008 Yup this winter I have gotten into bowling and Texas Hold'em. Every Tuesday and Friday night is bowling and every Saturday night is Poker. Quote
guitarkid Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I always thought it was pretty fun, but I am HORRIBLE at bowling. -searoach Quote
mynameis....andimabassaholic Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 im 23 now but in highschool i went down state for bowling, now i currently bowl in two leagues Quote
Popeye Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 "Bowling for Burgers" was one of my favorite shows on UHF. Seriously though, I used to bowl on work leagues all the time. Tons of fun and decent exercise to boot. Earl Anthony and Mark Roth were my favorites to watch on Saturday afternoon TV, along with Johnny Petraglia. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 Why did bowling go down hill I wonder ? Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I'll play every once in a while. It's pretty fun!! Especially when you have a bunch of friends with ya!! Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I've bowled in leagues for the past 20+ years. When I was single I bowled 3 nights a week. Now I only bowl on Thursdays. We drink and play cards while we bowl. Great fun with a great group of guys. I hope I'm still doing this when I'm 80... If I'm lucky enough to live that long. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Haven't bowled in a while, but when I was in college my buddies and I would go to this bowling alley that was attached to a strip club, Hard Bodyz. We'd bowl, then go to the club. Pretty interesting combination ;D The locker room attendant at my golf course once bowled a 299, which is hilarious if you know his personality ;D Quote

Hawgin Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I used to bowl alot. When I met my (now) wife we went bowling on one of our first dates. She rolled a 190 something and just destroyed me. I found out afterwards that her grandparents owned a bowling alley, and she grew up working there in the summers. I kinda lost my interest in bowling after that. :'( Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 It's a sad day for bowling here in Brewtown. The US Bowling Congress, which has been in Milwaukee for over 100 years, is leaving town. As one bowler put it, "Bowling is part of Milwaukee's identity...It's a travesty." Quote

Rick Cargo Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I've been in the bowling business for 34 years both as a mechanic for 23 years and now the last 11 years being distributor for Brunswick out here on the west coast. As for you comment Bass-Brat, bowling started it decline in the 90's due to mainly 2 things. 1, the economy sucks and people didn't have much extra money(just like now) 2, the bowling industry insisted on saying bowling is a "sport" to which it is not. Bowling is a recreational game in a totally controlled atmosphere both on and off the lanes. Then the bowlers(higher average ones) started saying they were "athletes" LOL Quote
