Fisher of Men Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 TAKE OUR SURVEY AND WIN $1000!!! That would be Wal-mart (who has been promoting a "green" campaign) and Lowes. Very wasteful!! Quote
fishbear Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 In the vein of another thread... How do the squirrels and other animals feel about having to cut more trees for those long receipts.. hahahahhahaa ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
FishingBuds Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 its wasteful, I'm gonna keep'em and make a mummy outfit this holloween, and one for the wife, and some for the kids Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 Don't forget Home Depot. I'm beginning to think that all the major retailers own stock in paper mills. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 My wife went to KMart yesterday, got one item. The receipt was 41" long, I went so far as to measure it. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 It has gotten out of hand. Some day I am just going to call the survey number just so I can complain about how long the receipt is. Also, I heard from a retailer that ink on some receipt paper is designed to fade over time so people won't be able to bring an item back after they have had it for awhile. For example, Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart. Just plain crazy. Quote

I've got some 3-4 year old reciepts in my wallet from Wal Mart that have not faded. I've also got a few that were printed with a typewriter-like printer and those fade very quickly. Quote

Leave them on your truck dash in the sun awhile. That's always faded mine. I also found out awhile back that some retailers (Target is one) will keep track of your returns and only allow a set amount over time. > I think Target will only allow 2 per month (even with a receipt). IMO if you haven't used the product, you have your receipt, and you want your money back, you SHOULD be allowed to get it back (at least within 90 days or so). Quote
TruflShufl Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I had a customer make a comment on that yesterday. Bought one pack of fuses and his receipt was 14~" long. I doubt the receipts are designed to fade. I can vouch for Radioshack (and I would suspect every other electronics retailer and most big box retailers are the same). Our receipts are also kept online for 4+ years and we're able to track them by a receipt # amongst other search criteria. As long as that's readable on the receipt (I've yet to see one faded) then we're able to get all the info on the ticket. Besides if it's something small you don't need to keep the receipt on, throw it out; if it's something you need the receipt on then file it away and it won't fade. The reason some retailers limit your returns is because people steal things and try to return them to get money back. Another thing people will do is buy something, use it for 30-90 days (however long the return policy is), repackage it, and return it; I like to call em renters. I've seen that a million times (especially on phone chargers that people just forgot on a trip, etc.). RS doesn't limit but I'm not surprised other retailers do. Some of the extremes we have to go to are ridiculous. All it takes are a few bad apples to screw it up for everyone. :-/ Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 Wal Mart limits the number of non-receipt returns you can make in a year's time. Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Geez I bought a Truck and got a recipet the size of an index card Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Wow the length of a receipt is what drives you to a rant. Might want to look into relieving some stress... : Quote
Super User Root beer Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 K-mart not all wasteful crap, they actually have coupons on back of the paper to restraunts, etc. Or sometimes they are just plain advertisment or they'll have information about upcoming events etc. Quote

michbass Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Sounds like my BPS receipt. Super long with a bunch of stuff on it. Seems like someone wasted money... Anyone ever call into any of the surveys you get on receipts? or better yet won anything. I think its a sham. Quote
