Seeing Dean's post on his first job interview got me to thinkin bout the job interviews I've been through.

I've only been to three. My first was with Radioshack (employed there to this day actually). First thing she asked me was how old I was, I told her I was 17 and he said she couldn't hire me since I was under 18 but  wanted to do the interview anyway. She ended up hiring me because I had "so much management experience and assertiveness". Whatever. Sounded like mind games to me.

My favorite job interview was with Best Buy. I told the guy I hated sales with a passion and he asked why I applied for a sales position,  I told him it's all I'm qualified to do. He gave me the weirdest look. Called me back offering me the job too, I declined, thankfully.  ;D Still to this day I don't know what inspired me to admit that to him, but it all worked out for the best.

I was interviewing this "lady".   I asked her what qualities she possessed that made her a good supervisor.  She started unbuttoning her blouse!!!!!

I stopped the interview... wow... she called like 10 times asking about the job, and if she got it.. :o :o

What got you the offer was your honesty.  So many people put up fronts in an interview.  I've always thought that being honest and upfront says something about someone's character.

I haven't had an interview in 11 years.  I do not miss them either.

Biggest waste of time I've ever seen.  Give me the job, give me three months to prove myself.

That is way too funny.  ;D Makes you wonder how many jobs she DID get using that method.

You hit the nail on the head. Before I left my BB interview he actually told me he was very impressed with my honesty, but let's face it saying you hate selling stuff when you're trying to become a salesman isn't the best idea  ;D

There was a GMA story on this not too long ago.  It was about "over-protective" parents.  According to the story, this scene is not too uncommon.  If I had a candidate show up with his mom/dad, I'd show them the door and file their application in that famous file (#13).  The story also went on to state that the latest generation of college graduates had never been challenged much but coddled all their lives.  Many can't handle the pressure and last less than six months.

I have interviewed a bunch.  The last two jobs that I have been offered is due to being brutely honest with the person giving the interview.  The last person told me that he felt as if I was interviewing him.....That is exactly what I was doing I had several questions he could not answer such as, what is your and the companies strategy for obtaining more market share?  This took him by complete surprise and he could not answer so then I proceed to ask other questions this proved to be a very great way for me to get into their heads and stick out from the other canadiates.  I would say that if you are not scared and know what you are talking about interview them see if you want to work for them.  It always works for me I have been to 10+ interviews and have always been offered the job.  Don't sit on your hands and answer yes or no always give a answer then describe your answer in detail......It is always good when you can make your interview run an hour past what they expect, you can see your competetion sitting out in the lobby with a blank stare.........lol

I have never interviewed for a job.  I had 2 jobs in High School and they both hired me through the application and no interview.  I then went to the Coast Guard Academy and am still in the service.  I may be getting out in a couple years and will probably have to go through an interview then, but I am not worried about them.  I have been through enough sitting through boards in the CG that interviews don't scare me.  I have "interviewed" a couple applicants for Direct Commission Officer and our Officer Candidate School programs and felt sorry for a couple of them since they were not prepared.
