Fish Man Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 not to get off topic but when you reallt think about the number of school shootings its probobly not as high as we asume it is, figure how many people there are today and i bet the percentage is probobly the same as it was in the past, maybe. but then agin there shouldnt be any in the first place just a thought Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted February 26, 2008 Super User Posted February 26, 2008 Awesome! I hope you can cut people up with a chainsaw! Seriously.....Anyone that attributes the perceived downfall of the United States to violent video games has their head in the sand. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 26, 2008 Super User Posted February 26, 2008 Awesome! I hope you can cut people up with a chainsaw! Seriously.....Anyone that attributes the perceived downfall of the United States to violent video games has their head in the sand. X2 Can I attribute my craving for sex to all the playboy magazines I snuck and looked at as a kid? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted February 26, 2008 Super User Posted February 26, 2008 nope, pretty sure that is just human nature. crazy huh Quote
Branuss04 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Neither is violence and senseless killing and we wonder WHY there are so many shooting incidents at schools and colleges?? Hum. Will this society ever learn?? I hate when society tags young adults with this stupid stereotype about videogames and violence. Like stated above, school shootings are not as high as we think (Yes, i agree they shouldn't happen at all), Someone say something if i'm wrong, but is it proven that any of the school shooting are related to video games. At my high school we had a gun scare (No killing, a kid brought a shotgun to school) I was friends with this kid too, but the kid didn't even own a video game console, so nobdoy could slap him with that stereotype. If you want to put this stereotype on young adults, dont forget those 40 year old virgin type people who go and shoot up a liquor store, i'm sure they did it becuase they play Grand Theft Auto also... GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!! Don't mean to tick anyone off, just ranting ;D Quote
Fish Man Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 i agree with Branuss04, personally i think the problem is the adults who would rather preach to kids rather than listen just my 2 cents Quote
Cajun1977 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 i wonder what video games hitler must have been playing? ;D ;D why is it every post someone has to pipe up acting all self rightious, like their ...$h1t dont stink Quote
Popeye Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Post that caused me to be labeled "self righteous" has been deleted. Sure wish "righteous" had been spelled right. Quote
TeamBerettaGold Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 There are 119000 schools in the US. There have been 93 reported cases of school homicide in the past 10 years....carry the 3 add a 0. You have about a 1 in 12000 chance of being a victim of student-perpetrated school homicide (ages 5-19) Thats roughly 9.3 deaths of people ages 5-19 as a result of school homicide. On average, 97 people of the same age bracket die each year from HIV, another 166 from the flu and pneumonia, 1757 die from cancer, 1857 die from suicide, 2525 die as a reslut of homicide outside of schools, and another 9779 die in accidents. This is just in a year. The most common crime in American schools today is theft, stealing someones lunch money, a close second is simple assult. I dont know about you guys but I think ill take my chances in america's school system, even if the kid next to me plays video games. Guest muddy Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Why the Mafia is not a game They are responsible for Murder Heroin trade Labor racketeering Theft Constuction Racketeering Gambeling Extortion Loan Sharking Election Tampering I do not know anything about any relationship between video games and violence, nor do i feel a need to do the research. I do know that The Mob has ruined first and second gneration italian families, wholesale, so i can state THE MAFIA IS NOT A GAME, nor should it be idolized or glorified. Quote
Yodie Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Muddy, got a question for ya.... I know this may seem mundane and totally pointless, but its something I have always been curious of... Is there a difference between the Mob and the Mafia? Or are they just two different words for the same thing? Quote
TeamBerettaGold Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The mob and Mafia are the same thing, although Mafia is the actual name, it is often referred to as the "Mob". I totally agree that the mafia is not a game. Quote
