Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 Living Will WHILE I WAS WATCHING THE TV ONE WEEKEND, MY WIFE AND I GOT INTO A CONVERSATION ABOUT LIFE AND DEATH AND THE NEED FOR LIVING WILLS. DURING THE COURSE OF THE CONVERSATION I TOLD HER THAT I NEVER WANT TO EXIST IN A VEGETATIVE STATE, DEPENDENT ON SOME MACHINE AND TAKE LIQUIDS FROM A BOTTLE. SHE GOT UP, UNPLUGGED THE TV AND THREW OUT ALL MY BEER. SOMETIMES IT'S TOUGH BEING MARRIED TO A SMARTASS. Quote
Popeye Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 An "oldie but a goodie"! Still funny whenever I read it:o) Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 Serious subject made funny. Note: Even if you have a Living Will, it is still up to the doctor to pull the plug. I know as they refused to take father-in-law off respirator in the hospital even though the family begged them to do it. Sorry state of affairs. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 That's a sad state if true Sam. The wife and I had to disconnect our infant son from life support 21 years ago as he was losing his battle with a degenerative, hereditary birth defect. Lots of lawyers were involved but no one on the hospital side stopped us. Quote
skillet Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 New to me ;D! Thought it was great To the serious side that Sam brought up: IMHO there REALLY should be a "quality of life" issue that is taken into consideration by all involved... As Ever, skillet Quote
