GM and Shell offered to buy it from him

Now that it's made history, the truck could be headed back to the automaker or Shell Oil. Oresnik said there's been some interested in GM or Shell Oil buying it

I heard about that also. I didn't know that he lived like a hour from me. He must not drive it durning the winter. Becasue if he did the truck would have never made it. Also Iam sure its never pulled a trailer.

I had a 89 Ford Thunderbird that I got 230K miles out, my buddies called it the thunder chicken.    Should have sold it way earlier, I replaced just about every major mechanical part other than the engine.  Replaced the tranny twice.  The million mile guy must have babied it.

I use to have a ford with almost 180,000 on it. It ran better then a lot of newer trucks. As munch as iam a ford guy it looks like my next truck will be a dodge. There the only ones that offer a true regular cab. The only ones that offer a 5 speed in a truck other then a sd or hd. There also the only ones that offer a 8 ft bed. Plus there like 3-5 grand less then ford and chevy with every thing I want.

Wow.  Where are all the Toyota guys?  I guess they all fainted over the fact that an American vehicle could last that long!

Tip,

I heard a radio interview with the guy this morning and he said he drives the truck every day, even in cold weather.  He also pointed out that the miles aren't all highway, but a lot of bumpy backroad miles.  As far as pulling a trailor, I don't know, but he does use it as his work truck.

SE FL,

In the same radio interview he said he changed the oil every 3000 miles, and "flushed" his systems every third oil change (9000 miles).  I don't know what he meany by "flushed," but that's the word he used.

Just thought I'd share what I heard on the interview.  If it's a lie, he told it. :)

My first truck was a '74 Chevy 3/4 ton work truck I got 28 years ago.  I guess they called it a work truck because I was always working on it.

My second was a new '85 Ford 1/2 ton.  180k miles, reliable.  Traded it in on a 94 Ford Supercab.  I didn't care for the ride on that one and traded that in on a '97.  Ran that one to 180k and traded in for my current truck, a '99 Supercab.  I've had it nearly 3 years now.  No problems.  106k miles on it.  General maintenance and it's good to go.

There's a junk man that frequents my work pulling metal out of our dumpster.  He drives this old, beat up early eighties Ford supercab PU pulling a flatbed trailer.  I'll have to ask him if he knows how many miles he's got on it.  It's easily got to be 500,000.  He drives that thing everyday.

This is not a joke, my brothers 1996 Ford F150 has over 600,000 miles on it.  My niece would perform in plays all over the country, she lived in New York and attended school their.  My brother and his wife would travel all over the place with her and when she lived in New York they would travel there about two or three times a month.

If I am not mistaken, their was a guy with a beat up 1986 white F-150 that turned a million on his truck about 3 years ago and is still driving it.  I think he has a 200+ mile round trip to work everyday.
