Going to take me all season to get used to seeing Dale Jr. in the 88.  All the new paint schemes are going to drive me crazy.

That said, Junior has been very strong tonight.  Tony is having his usual Daytona success.

It has taken a while, but I'm really digging the COT.

White flag is out, Junior in front by half a car length.

Happy to see ol' Mark Martin get a top 10.

I almost cried last year when he finished second @ Daytona.  I can't stand Harvick to begin with.  A few years back Martin had the car to beat at Daytona, who wrecked him in practice? Harvick.  After patching the car up, Martin was wrecked AGAIN by Harvick in the Twins.  The 06 still had a top ten finish on Sunday with his pieced together ride.  This was when a Rousch Ford never finished @ the top at Daytona

That's not the reason I don't like Harvick; never liked him to begin with.  Kenseth is at the top of my list too.  Without his help drafting, the 29 wouldn't have won the big one.  The 17 and Martin have been friends, teammates, and business partners for years.  I still don't know why Kenseth helped Harvick overtake Martin.   ::)

It was truely a sublime feeling to watch Jr. stick it up Teresa's azz.

Because there are no friends on the last lap.

Yea, but the only thing that bugs me is Kenseth had nothing to gain from that.  He was several places back, and going nowhere.

I just get so bummed that the 6, no the 01, no wait, the 8, can never catch a break.  He's one of the nicest guys out there.  Other drivers and commentators alike have so much respect for this guy.

I don't know when I have ever enjoyed a race so much.  I couldn't get to sleep last night I was so worked up.

NASCAR has to feel pretty good about the COT at this point.

I really like Michael Waltrip and was pleased to see him have a competitive car, but how basic is it to know where your pit is?

Glad Junior won.

What was so amazing was the finish of Johnson and Gordon from where they started.

Should be a fun year with Stewart going off the deep end so early.

Great race and a great finish. I was glad to see Jr. win and Stewart loose. I've been a fan of Jeff Gordon since he came up from the sprint cars but I like Jr. as well. Johnson hails from El Cajon which is only about 25 miles from where I live but there's just something about him that I don't care for all that much. The real Daytona ought to be a "barn burner" this year. One of the few NASCAR races I seldom miss, along with the "Greatest Spectical in Racing", INDY!

If last nights race is any indication of the season to come, we may see some of the best racing ever.

   That race was tight.

I just saw on Yahoo Sports that Michael Waltrip got the outside row 1 position during qualifying for the Daytona 500 next Sunday. I must say that I really like him as a driver and human being. He seems to be a "down to earth" kind of guy and has a great love of the sport of racing. I think I might just root for him to win the championship this year (as well as the 500). I'm tired of Jimmy Johnson and some of the others dominating the sport so much (I know, they have the talent and $$$$s to win and rightfully deserve to do just that, BUT I almost always root for the/an underdog and Michael is just so likeable - IMO:o)

Micahael Waltrip racing took a beating last year.

CAught cheating, and in Nascar, if you aren't working in the grey areas, you aren't gonna be a top owner.

I always like Mikie cause he was an underdog for sure.

Had one of the longest winnless streaks for a long time.  Until he got his first one with DEI.

I'm upset cause I got some expensive stuff from Dales old Bud gig, and what are you supposed to do with it?

Don't know who I'll support.       Dale and the Rainbow warrior on the same team!!!!

Hendrix Motors is one of the Elite owners in the sport.   They will be tough.    How about Gibbs going Toyota?

Can't wait till the flag drops!!

Matt Fly:  all the #8 Jr stuff may become COLLECTIBLE and be worth way more than you paid for it since he no longer is driving with Bud as a sponsor. I'd recommend holding onto it for a few years and see what happens. IMO:o)

im still looking for a new driver this year, used to be a huge stewart fan but that all went away when they mad ethe switch to toyota, ill probobly still pull for him to win but im thinkin ill root for clint bowyer

I wish Junior drove a Ford.  All of my relatives worked for Ford so I have been a lifelong Ford fan.

It was hard finding JR, because I'm use to the red Budweiser that stands out.

Now that Junior is teamed up with "professionals", maybe he will learn how to drive a race car! As a "loser" last year, he wasn't the instigator of many wrecks, but over the years he has been "The Cause" more times than I can count. Two years ago I hoped he would get suspended, but he was just too popular for NASCAR to take appropriate action.

I guess I'm NOT a Junior fan. >:(

I was big Dale senior fan but, not so much a Jr. fan. I saw where he took Tony Eury, Jr. to Hendrick racing wih him.

These teams better look out for Toyota this year, especially now that they have Gibbs racing onboard. Toyota has alot of money to throw into this sport.

"And here they come, race fans! It's going to be a photo finish! And the #49 HYUNDAI Scamp driven by Asakison Yamakasoto WINS the 2020 Daytona 50*" (*race shortened due to limited fuel supplies). Just a thought:o)

That could easily happen someday. I am not sure if you were poking fun at Toyota or not, but the Toyota's are more Amercan made than most of Detroits Cars.

My wife has a Toyota Camry and we BOTH love it! I was not poking fun at Toyota by any means. Just thinking about Hyundai and probably Nissan and Honda getting into NASCAR to save face:o)

That's cool, my misunderstanding. I appoligize if I sounded brash or anything. I could not see Hyundai getting into Nascar. I do not think they have the funds to do so. I could however see Honda or maybe Nissan getting into it. Honda especially, they have the racing technology already in place, ie Formula One and Indy Car. Nascar is not the same as it was 10 to 15 years ago. It is definately not the same Southern based outfit that it was when Richard Petty, Daryl Waltrip or Cale Yarborough was racing. I [ersonlly think that it has become to comercialized. I like the Bucsh, or the Nationwide, cars better. These guys seem like they have more of a hunger than the Cup cars.

OOPS, I forgot HONDA (I added them to the post). The Hyundai remark/post WAS intended to be FUNNY. I once referred to Hyundais as a "disposible car", kinda in the vein of the YUGO:o) As a car company they have come a long way since then and some of their models are pretty OK in my book.

BTW: no need for an apology of any kind. Your comment wasn't misconstrued by me as being brash by any means at all. I applaud Toyota's choice to have the cars built in the USA. We've owned both Hondas and Toyotas and my son had a Nissan Ultima and I must say the quality and engineering in those cars are top notch and they seem to last/run forever. When I sell my HemiBee in a few months, I will probably buy my wife a brand new Camry Hybrid and I'll start driving her "old" Camry back and forth to Indiana when I want to go there.

PS: my oldest son is a Service Writer for Kearny Mesa Toyota here in San Diego and he drives a new Prius Hybrid now.
