Super User Tin Posted February 9, 2008 Super User Posted February 9, 2008 Anyone else watching this? I originally saw all the episodes in my 11th grade U.S. History class. No matter what else is on I always find myself watching them. Guess I'm just a history geek. :-[ Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 9, 2008 Super User Posted February 9, 2008 Tin, I love this show. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to go watch it for a while. Quote

Other. Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 No matter how many times I watch Band of Brothers it never gets old. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Absolutely love this series. I got the dvd box set for Christmas a few years ago and it's awesome. There's some extras where they interview the real guys from Easy Company. Very powerful stuff. Those guys are heroes in every sense of the word. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 10, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 10, 2008 Ya the extra's are great too. I can't believe the guy who plays Winters is British, he hides his accent well. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 yeah. Another suprise for me was David Schwimmer. I didn't know if I'd be able to take him seriously in this but he actually nailed the role pretty well. Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 That's a good series. I'm a history geek, too. I like to watch for errors in wardrobe and equipment, and it's pretty darned near perfect. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 No matter how many times I watch Band of Brothers it never gets old. +1 The one thing I don't like, is that Dick Winters did indeed keep the pistol from the German officer. In the scene, he says "You may keep your side arm Colonel" But in Major Winter's book, he states that he did keep it. I always wonderd why they would embelish the story and veer from the facts on that one.... Favotie Quote: "Captain Sobel.....CAPTAIN SOBEL! We salute the rank Captain, not the man." Quote
Guest avid Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 there are like maybe one or possibly two TV mini series that cannot be watched with commercials.......this is one of them. get the dvd box set....absolutely the best dvd investment you will ever make. Quote

ejtaylor822 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 One of my all time favs. Like others love WWII history and read Ambrose's book before watching the series. This is one of the few instances where the movie stuck to the book AND was actually better IMHO. Have the DVD set and watched it several times. Its amazing to realize that 1) these were "kids" doing what they did and 2) if you saw these "old guys" around town you would never have any idea what they had done for this country. They are the real heros. Captain Winters was an incredible leader. Looking forward to this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374463/ Hopefully it will be as good as BoB. Man! I may have to watch some when the littel girl takes her nap this afternoon. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 10, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 10, 2008 I can't wait for that series . Quote

Super User Tin Posted February 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2008 You missed it, it was on the past two days from 12-8pm. Quote
Masshole Mike Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 i was so stoked watching the little bit that i did yesterday that i started watching all the dvd's again today. just finished up disc 3 and i'll probably watch 4 before i go to bed. Quote
Top Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I LOVE that series..it was a MUST BRING when I came to this place...I truly believe in my heart that my grandkids will be watching a mini series on what we are doing in Iraq similar to band of brothers... let me tell you something right now.. there are acts of heroism going on that would lead folks to believe that we have achieved a new generation of "the greatest generation" it is disgraceful the way the medal of honor has been taken to such a political level... we NEED to award it ... its more or less become a posthumous award AL Quote
