tipptruck1 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I came across this on a neon fourm. I read that he was on a bmw web site asking how to run the car faster and no tracton control. Then I guess you can flip a switch and make the car run to how you like. From what I read he was running it at like race only settings. I just wish all my best to his family and the four kids familys. http://www.ocala.com/article/20080127/NEWS/801270355/1001/NEWS01 http://www.ocala.com/article/20080127/BREAKING_NEWS/274162577 Quote
TheBeast Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Gaurantee within the next 2-3 weeks you will be hearing about a lawsuit because these 5 were able to get on the runway and the owners new it was a problem and didn't do anything to stop it. And they will win. These apparent rich spoiled brats were out being rich spoiled brats and got themselves killed. I know it sounds mean and callous but it is what it is. Quote

Im sorry to say it but I couldnt agree with you more. I feel the same way with people racing up and down the highway as motorcycles doing stunts up and down the highway. If they chose to go fast and be reckless thats fine but do it on a closed course, where the public cant be involved or hurt directly or indirectly, not on a highway loaded with people. Granted this was on a runway, but what if the car happened to veer off and hit the nearby house. I have no remorse or sorrow for people being hurt or killed doing their lame brained actions. I can see the ink drying now on the Darwin Awards. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 I bet theres some sort of securty now. Iam surprised with John Travolta being part owner that there was nothing there. He was also living along the air strip so he could land there and taxi he plane to his house. Quote
rondef Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I agree that the driver was stupid and got killed as a result. You have to remember that he took other people out with him and you don't know if they were trying to stop him from driving this way before the crash. When I was a teenager four of my friends died due to the driver being drunk and racing down the road. One of my friends survived and stated that they tried to get the kid that was driving to pull over and let them out and he would not. So don't be to quick to rush to judgement on all of the people that were inside the car. Quote

Super User Raul Posted February 7, 2008 Super User Posted February 7, 2008 The fact that I never drove a manual car before may be true, but I've been driving for a lot longer than two years buddy," Ammirato responded The classic arrogant answer from a teenager with s*t for brains. ( Looking back I may sound harsh but thinking about it in more depth at that age I also had s*t for brains ) What the heck were they doing driving in an AIR STRIP ? ( ya know, where flying objects like planes usually land and take off ) Oh well, call it natural selection. Quote
The Unabasser Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 still a tragedy folks...hate to hear when young kids die a horrible death like this... we had 4 young kids die here last fall...they were between 15 and 21...a 17 yr old was driving intoxicated...car left the road and ended up in a dry creek bed...saddest part was the young girl was the only one alive after the crash but her injuries wouldn't allow her to get out of the car...it took 2 days before they were found...tried to get the full story but alas they want to pay for the archive story a few links if your interested http://www.wivb.com/Global/story.asp?S=7153668 http://www.wham1180.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=122742&article=2746963 http://www.weny.com/News-Local.asp?ARTICLE3864=6847845 I am not condoning their actions by any means but more than 20 yrs ago there was many times I shouldn't have been on the road but I made it home, thank God...we all have made a few bad decisions, haven't we? slomoe Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks for being the voice of reason Unabasser. It could have been anyones kids. You wouldn't be calling it natural selection if you were waiting for the ink to dry on the check you were paying the funeral home with. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Granted, the kids were being total idiots, but let's not forget that five kids just died, and these kids all had families. How do you think family members would feel after reading a couple of these replies? Most of us have done a lot of really dumb-azz stuff, and in a lot of cases, due to luck, nothing bad happened and we can laugh about them now. If the kid didn't lose control, it would just be one of those really stupid dangerous things they did in their childhood. Yes, they were being idiots, but they didn't "deserve" to die. Quote
