Super User Matt Fly Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 The guy who claimed to film the Rams Redzone final walk thru practice in 2002 for the SuperBowl against the RAms has come forward to the commish. Sorry, this horse needs to be beat some more it appears. I'm begining to see an Asterik in the crystal ball. I love the way some fans fought hard to clear that cheating moniker up. Except now it goes back to 2002 which sure makes the Pats championships look tainted. You know that old saying. " What comes around goes around". Maybe the Pats should have thought about taking a knee once in awhile instead of piling on. CAuse thats what everyone else is gonna do. CHEATERS NEVER WIN!!!!!!!! Hookem Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 This should be fun.... :-X Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 Cheaters do win in this modern world.......But they get to go into hiding when they are required to attend a congressional hearing or a Pro Bowl. ;D Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted February 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2008 Its only fair, we had to listen to all the hooplah of how great they thought they were. 19-0 and such. Well, with that fame comes a price, and the price is embarrassment for cheating. They can say other teams do it, yet no one is stepping forward about other teams are they. When they do, they'll recieve the same if they were successfull, and if they were a soso team, then they will be treated as such. Filming the final walk thru before the game is cheating, and it wasn't just defensive signals apparently!!!!! Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 This is depressing I'm sure more people will come forward and admit to video taping other games for the Pats too. It is going to be a rough off season. : Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted February 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2008 You are not required to play in the pro bowl!!!! And if I was into my last year of the contract with a contract to be re-worked as Randy is, injuries don't get paid much. Big gamble to play for ego and fans, just because they want you to when contracts are to be signed with some team!! Will the pats pay him? Pay him money like TO and the other Top 5 recievers make? I guess we'll see!!!! Quote
llPa1nll Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Been a rough week being a Patriots fan for sure. This story seems to have legs and we will all see where it ends up. I will be very disappointed if the story comes out that they did tape the Rams practice. Also some of you might not have heard but a Patriots special teams player was busted for Marijuana this week as well. Been a rough week being a Patriots fan. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 Doubt it, look at all the free agents that have left in the past 3 years, Law, Milloy, Pattent, Givens..........And Asante Samuel wont be back either : He is a cheap sob. Quote

I guess we'll see!!!! I remember poor Robert Edwards that went to the Pro Bowl was in one of those sand flag football games and tore his knee up and he was never the same. He came back with Miami for a year or so and then retired. He was a promising young talented RB, when he got hurt. Quote

Filming the final walk thru before the game is cheating, and it wasn't just defensive signals apparently!!!!! There in fact was some talk about the Jets Filming the Patriots in the 2006 season. Where that story went I have no idea. Why that isnt being brought to everyones attention I have no idea. You can read more about it here. "We taped the game is what we taped, and we taped end-zone copy of the game, and we tape a double-end zone, which is standard operating procedure for us," Mangini said Wednesday. "We request that every single road game, and it's usually granted if physically it's possible. And when people request it from us, we do the same thing: We grant it." Anyway it doesnt make it right for what the Patriots did or have allegedly have done. Quote
tntitans21399 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I think it is funny that the Pats accused Miami of cheating last year and knowing their play calls last year in one game. But yet they have been cheating for years. It's like they think it's ok if they do it, but not if someone else does it. Now with the Pats calling out Miami in that one game last year, which there was no proof, and the Jets and Pats being caught. It sounds like division is all rotten. Quote

Dean Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Whats in the past is in the past, what's done is done. Can we stop beating the dead horse now??? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted February 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2008 Nope, turned out they were cheating in 2002, and when someone is trying to label the pats as a dynasty, with 4 championship in 7 years, but it appears they were cheating by spying on practices as well. There may need be an aesterik posted next to their names. LOL Cheaters never prosper!!!! Pete Rose got banned from basedball, Shoeless Joe got banned. I don't see why you wouldn't ban Bella Cheat from Football as well. This is gonna get good, not from my points, but this new commish likes to set examples. I'm gonna watch this one unfold with the new commish, he's tougher than the old commish. Already gave them half mil fine and took first round draft pick. Now the accusation of filming the final redzone walk thru by the Rams is even worse that the first incident. This was flat out spying/cheating. Quote
Fish Man Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 ok i dont suppoert the pats very often but this isnt really cheating, its more like breaking a stupid rule, almost every team in the nfl and every other level does this and is it really worse than watching game film give it a @#$%$#$ break Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 Whats in the past is in the past, what's done is done. Can we stop beating the dead horse now??? This thing is far from over.... They're going to tear the house down. It may take all of the off season but I am going to take a guess that the New England Patriots are done as we know it. I've said it before "They didn't need to cheat. They're just that good of a team and also very well coached. It would have made no difference." Quote

I've said it before "They didn't need to cheat. They're just that good of a team and also very well coached. It would have made no difference." You're right, they were just that good. Whether or not they taped anything had nothing to do with how they took on all comers and shut them down in all but one game. I'm not a huge football fan but to see a team that played that well for as long as they did not consumate their perfect season was sad. Quote
Super User flechero Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 this isnt really cheating, its more like breaking a stupid rule So is pass interference. But it changes the outcome of games all the time. Quote

I can't believe you equivocate game film with a dedicated camera on the opposite sideline focusing only on the defensive signalcallers. Quote
Fish Man Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Burly and Flecharo, i see what both of you are saying and that part of my comment was mainly aimed at the filming practices part, also i dont see why the pats catch so much flak especially since we all know that every team does it and had the dolphins or any other team for that matter that wasnt closing in on a perfect season been cought it would be a non issue Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 6, 2008 Super User Posted February 6, 2008 Has any other team been fined for doing this? No? Then it didn't happen. The Patriots got caught and now it seems they didn't just start doing it yesterday. The Patriots got off easy. $500 000 and one first round pick (doesn't even hurt them since they have two this season). Quote
Fish Man Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Has any other team been fined for doing this? No? Then it didn't happen. sorry but i dont see the logic in this and have to disagree, just because they havent been caught doesnt mean it doesnt happen......basically your saying that if a man steals from a store but noone see's him or catches him, he never stole anything? :-? Super User Matt Fly Posted February 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 7, 2008 ok i dont suppoert the pats very often but this isnt really cheating, its more like breaking a stupid rule, almost every team in the nfl and every other level does this and is it really worse than watching game film give it a @#$%$#$ break In 2006, to all teams, the Commish said stop all taping during games, you know what is allowed to be filmed and what isn't. In 2007, Pats were caught on what Commish warned all teams about in 2006. What the Pats are accused of this time is not game time filming. They are accused of paying some one to tape the Rams redzone offensivel walk thru practice the day before the Super Bowl in 2002 against the Pats. Thats flat out different from any current allegations the past two seasons. They spied on the RAms Redzone offensive walk thru by having it taped. Thats low!!!!and not even close to filming signals.
