When I was in the Army we lived in NC (fort Bragg) and had Time Warner digital cable with DVR and TV on Demand, and loved it!  Now we are back in Ohio living with Charter "digital" cable that goes in and out all the time, doesnt offer DVR or HD, and cant even get the shows/times correct on the programming guide.  When I search for a show, all I find under "outdoors" is basketball highlights, and my fishing shows are sometimes displayed under "all sports"

I miss time warner, and hate charter, but its the only non-satelite company we can get!

What company do you like/trust the best?  and can someone tell me why it is up to the government of a county/city to determine which providers are allowed to serve certain areas?

Seriously, is there such a thing as best? I think it would be more the "Doesnt  suk, as bad" variety...

I have Cox Communications here in San Diego, but it is expensive (what isn't in Kalifornia?). When I go back to my mini-farm in Indiana, I'll have to get some kind of satellite dish service:o)

I know some of you guys remember when cable first came out. If you paid for cable you didn't have any commercials. That's why you had cable. Now I pay a $100 a month for cable so I can watch five minutes of show and ten minutes of commercials. :-[ Talk about making money on both ends. :o

I dumped cable over 7 years ago.  Direct TV has served us very well since then.  Does anyone use any of that fiberoptic "phone company" TV service?

I would ***-U-ME that it is because the cable lines and poles belong to the city (at least the right of way that they run on). In most cases (or at least it should be) up to the city counsel members to go with the best service/low bidder. I believe the companies selected are contracted for a set number of years. Have you contacted your local city counsel people/mayor, etc. and inquired of when Charter's contract is up?

isn't that an oxymoron? Best and cable provider in the same sentence. Although have cable for my internet which is Comcast and it is great. Excellent customer service that isn't outsourced. Dish network has gone downhill since outsourcing customer service.

I have Comcast and although a little expensive the service is 100% amazing. Rarely ever downtime and when there is we get a day or 2 knocked off the bill. Internet is the quickest ive ever used and the customer service is awesome

Here in Tulsa the only cable company is Cox.  I have TV, Internet and phone service with them.  All in all, excellent service and TV programming options.

The deal we have going with a company called Mediacom in our area sounds too good to be true, but believe me it is true. For $100 you get full phone service, high speed internet and full cable package(including premium channels and on demand). Also no long distance charges, the bill never changes!
