Tokyo Tony Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I like tons of music, but not country. I have heard a few country songs I like, but other than that, it just doesn't do it for me. Lately I've been listening to a lot of funky jazz, i.e. Soulive. Muddy - if you like funk and jazz, you'll love Soulive. They're amazing. Any other fans? Their newest album kinda sucks, IMO. They added a vocalist who's really good, but the funk just isn't there anymore. Quote

Guest avid Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I like all kinds of GOOD music. So long as the musicians have talent (not necessarily training) and it comes from the heart, soul, or gonads, then it's ok by me. Opera (If you aren't moved by Paroratti singing Nes Un dorma you are standing in your hog waller) Classical.......what can I say.....It's CLASSIC R&B....dinah Wahington, Ray Charles etc.....oh so SWEEEEEEEET hip hop...The most gritty honest music on airwaves today. Country....Hank, Willie, Merle, Patsy, and a few people born less than 50 years ago. Swing/big band - sinatra.....effortless perfection, benny goodman, and all that decadent dance music of the thirties and forties that got people executed in Germany and provided the soundtrack for WW2 Latino - Reggaeton- If your feet don't move to raggaeton then your standing in your hog waller) Shakira....hips don't lie dude...plus the girl can really sing. honest. African - anyone remember Michael Olutunge? Akee wa wa...Ala kali ay. Israeli/mideastern....whip yourself into a belly dancing frenzy...Lo Lo Lo Lo Lo Lo Lo Lo Lo (done with the tongue by the Arab women) Asian.....minimilist serenity. Heavy metal like Nirvana and Ozzy so long as it not all about "I hate myself and you suck" early sixties rock and roll....little anthony, del Shannon, buddy holly and about thousand one hit wonders. late sixties rock and roll.....Jimi, the doors, Santana....all that San Fran stuff. So you can see I'm pretty eclectic in my taste. the list goes on, raggae, gospel...but I'm tired. Oh, I forgot to mention that through Muddy's inisistance I am trying to develop an appreciation for ABBA. 8-) Quote

P.S. Muddy reminded me that I need to add "The Carpenters, rockin' your world" recorded live at CBGB's to my list of "must haves" Quote

Both times: Booker T & MG's with the Memphis Horns were the back up 8-) That's awesome Muddy. I do not doubt he was the best on stage you have seen, especially with that brass behind him. When I am sitting here, watching his live footage on Youtube, I'm darn near dancing in my chair. I couldn't imagine witnessing that energy live. Unfortunately he was gone long before I was born, so old footage is all I have. I don't know how he did it. Every single second of every single song, that man was all out. Just by watching his face, his legs dancing, his facial expressions, you can really tell how much he loved performing for people. And his voice was so rich and consistent. He truly was something special. When I was a kid, I listened to some of his performance @ the Monterey Pops Fest. I was blown away. His performance there is a story in itself. Great story Muddy! Big T Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Between my wife and I we probably have over 300-400 cds. We have everything from the Beastie Boys, Van Halen, and Kiss to Geoge Strait, Kenny Chesney and Reba. My wife mainly likes country, as well I do. However I really dig rock. I go through phases. Growing up it was all 80's hair bands. I still like that stuff but I tend to listen to more classic stuff now. The Rolling Stones, The Who, Kiss, etc. However next week you may find me listening to Jimmy Buffet or Reba, depends on my mood. TS Quote
