LCpointerKILLA Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Which one is a more productive soft plastic frog? Quote
Big-O Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 You know my vote Killa, Strike King challenged me 3 yrs ago to design a buzz style frog that would not only be different than the others on the market but also be more versatile at a variety of retrieval speeds, plus more water movement and noise at all speeds. Also wanted a frog that if it lands on its back on cast, would upright itself at beginning of retrieve. Heavy enough to cast long distances, and easy to keep on top at slow speeds. Also wanted a frog that was designed around a 4/0 to 6/0 EWG (extra wide gap hook) for excellent hook up ratio. Taking all of these requirements into diligent consideration, the Rage Tail Toad was born. Hope you like'em Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted May 17, 2008 Super User Posted May 17, 2008 Ribbits for me, paired along with some sizmics. Rage tails are great products especially the craw, but for a few reasons the toad just doesn't float my boat. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 17, 2008 Super User Posted May 17, 2008 You left out a choice NEITHER ONE Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted May 17, 2008 Super User Posted May 17, 2008 Between the two... That's a tough choice. If the fish want it loud I would go with the Rage Tail. If I need to make long casts I would go with the Rage Tail........ I guess it's not a tough choice after all. : Quote
B-Ass-Mad Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 The ribbit wins hands down for me! Especially now they have a high floater. You forgot to add the zoom horny toad and Manns hardnose both of which would also make an excellent choice. Quote
T-Bone Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 I've got to go with the ribbit, mainly because I've never had a chance to us the rage tail. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 I haven't tryed the Rage Tail toad yet, but I do pretty darn good with the Stanley Ribbit, so the ribbit gets my vote. Quote
Big-O Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 For those of you who use the Rage Toad or any of the Rage Tail baits for that matter, please go to my website message board and give your comments as to use etc. The Rage Tail website is relatively new and not a forum but for informational purposes only, no sales. I appreciate your interest in my products and would like to stay informed of your reaction to each of the different designs. Other folks would like to hear it too. BTW thanks for the votes too! LCpointerKILLA Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 Thanks for your opinions on these two guys. Where I come from this is a lure that is always tied on a set-up, and with summer coming around the corner it will be ripped through the slop for some mogans. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 19, 2008 Super User Posted May 19, 2008 I can not commit on the Rage Tail since I have never used one but you would be hard pressed to find a louder frog bait than a Stanley Ribbit and never rig one as a jig trailer or Texas Rig. Quote
Mattlures Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I personaly dont like any of the soft toad baits I have used. I havent tried the Rage frog, but..............................The Rage tail shad is awsome. I get better hook ups then the toads I have tried and I like how it thows water like a buzzbait. Quote
garry77 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I got a few packs of the rage tail toads but haven't tried them yet.maybe this afternoon.Then I'll make a vote,lol. Quote
TrailerHook Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Fished the Rage Tail shad and toad for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was actually the first time I had ever fished topwater baits ever, and I had a great experience with the Rage Tail products. On the second cast of the morning, I landed the largest bass of the weekend giving me bragging rights over my sted-dad and my brother-in-law. Yesterday I picked up a pack of the Rage Tail craws, and can't wait to try them out this Memorial Day weekend. I'm sold on the Rage Tails. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 19, 2008 Super User Posted May 19, 2008 I voted for the rage Tail but I fish them both. Quote
reelchaos18 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 You can't beat the bubble trail and the amount of water the rage tail throws up. On the other hand i feel like you get a better hook up with the ribbit because it is more slender. Quote

garry77 Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Well my vote is in.After an afternoon test run with both I picked te rage tail.I had two hits on it and missed both. The first one was my fault, not paying attention. The second hit it on the run straight towards the boat.Till I caught up to him he let it go. BassinBoy Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Havent tried either, and dont plan on it. Mann's Hardnose has satisfied me for life. Quote
Big-O Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 On the Rage Toads and Shad my favorite hook is a Heavy guage 5/0 Extra Wide Gap hook and that info is on the back of package as well. That style of hook gives me the best hook up %'s. Other hooks will work but I think these are best. Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
