Korea_Bassin Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Great game by the Giants. Not only did they win, they did it as a Wild Card team which means they won every playoff game on the road. The greatest thing about the Giants winning is that we won't have to listen to the undefeated Spygate asterick debate for the next decade. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 GREAT game, CONGRATULATIONS! Giant fans. Kudo's to Eli Manning for an OUTSTANDING post-season performance. To be victorious against what appeared to almost EVERYONE who follows NFL Football, insurmountable odds, is remarkable. Maybe Tampa on the road; but Dallas, Green Bay and New England back-to-back? NO WAY! This New York Giants team executed a remarkable game plan, stepped-up BIG on defense and showed the poise of a World Championship Team on offense. When it counted, Eli & Company out played good teams, perhaps even what could have been, the Greatest Team Of All Time! 8-) p.s. Congrats to Fox Sports, too! Quote
Jake. Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 can you really be surprised at Belicheck's lack of class? What a friggin' crybaby. Not a bit. Quote

As a New Englander who cares more about the sportsmanship than the sport,....that was a bit embarrassing.... :-/ Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 Yea the Manning's are absolutely over rated; Payton beat the Patriots in the playoffs last year & Eli beat the Patriots in the super bowl this year. Yelp over rated Quote
llPa1nll Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 What a great game, to bad my team lost. A great game played by the Giants Defensive Front Four, the Patriots didnt have an answer for them all game. Quote

I hate to see Junior Seau retire without a Super Bowl win but it looks like that will may be the case. What a game! There is another thread for greatest Super Bowl and I guess I would choose this one now. No matter who won, we all were watching history in the making. Either we were going to see the greatest season ever by a team, or we were going to see the greatest upset. Quote
Masshole Mike Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 the giants defense won them that game. yeah eli was the mvp, but if the giants defense hadn't laid a hurtin on the pats offense like they did, i don't think the outcome would have been the same. big ups to the ny D, they stepped up and dominated a team that was setting records all season. and as far as belichek being a sore sport and leaving the field with a second left on the clock, he was on the field shaking hands and congratulating the giants head coach, but they made him leave the field. did all of you really not see that? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I still think Eli Manning is overated, but for one night he was dynamic. My congrats to New york and their fans. That was the worst defense in the last two minutes that I have ever seen. You never grab a player by the jersey in an effort tackle him, you hit him hard. New England choked. TS One must be rated to be over rated. Just who in his 4 seasons has over rated ELI? I rated him as young and learning. Its not like he's a veteran pro bowler thats been around for 10 years. The normal matsuration process for good products coming out of college is normally 4 seasons as QB's. Eli is doing what most other QB did in there careers. Mature!!!! One thing you can say about ELI, he wasn't a NUMBER ONE draft flop like so many others before him. Calling him SheLI, I don't think he really cares!!!!!! Quote

For sure. While I thought Eli played a poised game, I told my wife at the end of the game that the MVP should go to the whole defense. It just goes to show you that no matter how great a quarterback is, it affects their play when they are getting knocked all over the field. There were 5 sacks and I believe Brady was knocked down 12 times. That type of beating will affect any quarterback. Quote
rondef Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Congrats to the NY Giants and their fans, they were the better team last night. My hat goes off to the NY defense, they beat the Pats offensive line, one on one. Eli also played the game of his life. The only thing left to say is there is always next year. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 Honestly, the Pats should have crushed the Giants on offense but something was up with Brady. After watching every game of the season, I could tell something was "off". Granted the Giants were blitzing, he never really made an effort to get out of the pocket. They said his ankle wasn't an issue which I think was a lie. Brady had plenty of long bombs down to my man Moss throughout the season, tonight he could barely chuck the ball 50 yds. If it wasn't his ankle, then something had happened with his girlfriend, earlier in the week he was spotted getting her flowers and apologizing for something. Brady tossed the whole game away for NE, in my opinion. And who was calling those stupid screen passes? It worked once, failed 100 other times. Brady lost the game for NE? What? I think it had a little something to do the the defense putting him on his back. And the fact that NE got absolutely NOTHING in the ground game. On the long throws I honestly cannot remember one where Brady had time to step into the throw without getting leveled. Quote
Masshole Mike Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 i don't think brady got hit as much all season as he did last night. the ny defense showed up with a point to prove and they did just that. oh well, only a couple more months till the red sox start up. GO SOX! Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I've never been shy when expressing my hatred for coach hoodie, but his post-game comments set an all time low. After his team's offensive front was pounded by the NY defense all night, and his team lost the biggest game of the year, he gave NO credit whatsoever to NY. He simply said, 'they made some plays, we made some plays, they made a few more.' Typical pompous hoodie. This ticks me royally, and I am not even a NY fan. hoodie is the face of the franchise and just played on the biggest stage in the world, man-up for Pete's sake and give credit where credit is due. But no, instead he went about with the demeanor of a spoiled little brat who had to settle for vanilla ice-cream at his birthday party, because Chuck-E-Cheese ran out of chocolate. > Congrats NY giants. Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 Couldn't agree more Ronnie. What bums me about this is the example he left for the youngsters. Win or lose, sportsmanship is the name of the game, and hoodie left a terrible example for all of the young viewers. The NFL is the pinnacle for a football player, and the Super Bowl is the biggest game in that league, for him to show such a blatant lack of respect on such a grand stage is inexcusable. He has won three Super Bowls and had no problem celebrating them, but now that the table has turned he goes totally juvenile. Quote

I agree that Bellicheck set a bad example for kids, and sportsmanship:,however, kids should not be looking to pro atheletes as role models anyway, they shuold be looking at their parents as role models. Especially considering most pro atheltes are overpayed street thugs. Pacman Jones and Michael Vick among others prove this point. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted February 5, 2008 Super User Posted February 5, 2008 How many college QB's comes into the NFL and is used to preparing for 16 games. Most college QB's don't play 4 preaseason games and 16 regular season games. Eli was 6-2 last three years and tailed off towards the end of the season. He's maturing. Giants defense was stellar. First half, I thought front 7 was MVP. ELI went on the road and beat Tampa fairly easily. Went on the road to Dallas and trailed late in the fourth, game winning drive to win the game. On the road in GB, Late in the fourth, he led his team on late winning drive to win the game. On the road in the Super Bowl, late in the fourth quarter, he lead his team on game winning TD. Facts speaks for themselves. Eli had 3 game winning drives on the road in the playoffs. 11 straight road wins this season. Only road loss to the cowboys opeining day. When the game was on the line, the ball was in Eli's hands. Congrats to ELI for earning MVP. Quote
