frogtog Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Man the power of the Internet. Didn't know if yall wanted to hear anything else about him. He has become a house whole name around the web. I picked this up off another forum. Trust but Verify « on: January 28, 2008, 10:05:37 AM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It has recently been brought to our attention that many of our members have been taken by a former member. We would like to take this opportunity to warn, advise, be caution you to be aware that many of us have bonded and are truly friends here at ******* but, people on the internet can make themselves appear to be something that they are not. Trust but Verify is something that I hear on a regular basis from a very good friend, and I think in this situation it applies very well. We all have to be aware of the people that are around us. BassHunter69 managed to use another person's article and claim it to be his own, other peoples artwork and claim it as his own and dupe folks into thinking that he was something other than he really was. Things such as recently being robbed. A scheme that had been used on at least one other site to scam non suspecting good hearted people out of their tackle and equipment. Each day I find more information about the online username BassHunter69 and feel that our decision to ban him from ******** was not only warranted but in the best interest of our site. I hope that we have saved at least one of our members from being conned. Please be watchful of the internet. It provides people with the ability to type things without having to face you in person and they can portray themselves to be anything they want. They don't have to face the consequences in most cases because they can remain anonymous. Logged Quote

Super User fishfordollars Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 I don't know about the rest on this site, but I have enough problems without having to put up with someone like him. Glad he is history. Hopefully he does not get the chance to scam to many more. Quote
K-Dub Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Ironically, this is the reason I registered with this site. I was researching where this pogue has been trodding and was going to post this exact same thing. He approached me on the UltimateBass forum andmy alarm bells went off. Unfortunately, he dupped a few of the members over the to, as I understand, about $1000 worth of gear. I decided to be proactive and warn people about him wherever I can. Good luck to all and I'll drop in on occasion to check things out Quote
The_Natural Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 And who said rednecks don't like some gossip! This is more drama than cosmopolitan can dish out! Yeah, Ok, I like it...it's hysterical. Quote
frogtog Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Welcome to BR K-Dub. You think we have fun on the ABA site, well just hang around here for a while. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I have not heard a lot about this saga just heard about it lately. You know I wondered about him. He was supposedly down and out but yet he was going to start fishing tournsments ( ? ) I think the mods did their best to check him out and I thought they were comfortable for a while. I'm glad I didn't bite onn the whole poor guy deal. I pm'd a little with him as he was from near a relative of mine. I almost had my relative drop by and see for himself. Supposedly he is from near the BR road trip. Might be interesting to have a bunch of angry fisherman show up at his door. This world just has all kinds doesn't it. I hate crooks. Quote

dave Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I saw him on another site as recently as 2 weeks ago. He was claiming that he couldn't buy any "good" reels because he had just been robbed, and didn't have much money. A few comments later, he was hinting that he would accept donations of equipment. I think maybe you guys going to Alabama, should pay him a visit. (someone video it please) Quote

fish-fighting-illini Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Already have his address..... My brother lives in Madison ( Basshunter's bia info says Madison Al ). My brother would probably be happy to scope out the address ahead of time to save you some hassle. Let me know if you need the info. Quote
Guest avid Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I have it on very good authority that Basshunter69 is Craig Baugher's love child. Quote
mattm Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I think he also has some trouble with MegaStrike now. I e-mailed Bobby to ask him about the sponsorship, and tell him of my intentions to quit using his products if the business relationship continued. Bobby almost immeaditely e-mailed asking me to call him. After explaining several of the things this guy had done He said he was going to tell him he had to issue a public apology on ever forum owning up to everything and apologize or throw his shirt in the trash. I just hope he is not banned from all the sites when he gets around to apologizing. It should be mentioned that Bobby knew nothing of this when he sent BassHunter the shirt. It also wasn't and earned sponsorship per say as much as helping someone he thought was in need. Bobby is a great guy and he really handled this matter professionally and promptly. Quote
