FishingBuds Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Man, fella at work told me and some others today that he's gettin $7300 back on federal and $600 back on state Of course I said "no way" He said he paid back in federal $2300 and I'm like "how in the heck can you get back double on what you paid in???? He goes on to tell us that he figured that it was not worth his wife going back to work cause they get , whic for the babies, help on the utillity bills and $1200 in food stamps a month- if she went back to work they would lose it all and not to mention they would have to get a sitter too if she went back.l Man don't get me wrong on needing help but, crud man, maybe I should quit work or something???
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 That really burns my ars, if I read your post correctly. My ex-wife(or should I say ex-^%$ ^%^$ *&*&^*%) is perfectly capable of working but says why should she, when she can collect my child support and money from the Gov't.
Super User Sam Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 My wife works for the Department of the Treasury. You would not believe what goes on in this country and how people get free money. The fraud is running rampant. If we had to stroke a check for all of our federal and state taxes on April 15 we would have a revolution in this country. Now, with taxes being taken out of each paycheck, we don't feel the pain. But we are still getting screwed. On behalf of the Mexican and lazy people in the USA, thank you for supporting them. You have no idea and you really don't want to know.
Fish Man Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 like the people in the city that live off food stamps and child support but then drive BMW's
FishingBuds Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 This kid is going to get close to $8000 and the free insurance too $8000 man, sad part is he probably won't do nothen with it. Thats some serious cash. forget the toys-pay off some dept over here, remodel the wifes kitchen for pete sakes. Don't party it off Man I could imagine what really goes on like Sam said you wouldn't wanna know
tipptruck1 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 If i was getting my car would have a built engine. It would also be running a t/3 turbo pushing 20 lbs of boost. Then get the motor tuned to run 400 plus hp. Then with the rest use it on a down payment on a truck.
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 True story. I left my wife in 1993. During the separation and prior to the final divorce, I paid her mortgage, car ins. ( car was paid in full), electric, cable, water and kids (2) medical ins. and gave her $400 a month for food. Wife applied for and received food stamps. I called the food stamp people and said I was paying for ALL her expenses and how could she be receiving food stamps. They said "Because I pay the bills myself INSTEAD of giving her the money to pay them, then she qualifies for food stamps." What a F'd up system.
Super User burleytog Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 Don't even get me started on this crap. Jimzee and I were just talking about it. Boggles the mind.
Super User Jimzee Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 I have several colorful words I would like to use but will refrain using them. Let's just say this stuff doesn't set well with me. :-X
Super User grimlin Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 This is the time of the year i began to wonder if i really love America.... And here i am struggling in a frigging trailer park with my girl and kid working my butt off and i hardly get jack S*** back. Something really needs to be done.....seriously. But there's some good news...they don't get that "extra money" this year...they disqualify for it from my understanding.
Branuss04 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 You guys made me relize another reason I SHOULDN'T get married. It sure can be a messed up system.

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 Ok, I suppose I can weigh in on this. I am one of those wonderful people in the state office evaluating families for benefits. What you all fail to realize is there are people out there that genuinely need and deserve a helping hand. Unfortunately, it only takes one person to make the system seem all about a "hand out." In my three years of doing this job, I have seem both ends of the spectrum but the majority of people on my caseload are good people. Some made bad decisions when they were younger, some continue to make bad decisions later in life, some in this area have bad decisions made for them and they end up losing their jobs. Does it irritate me when people I KNOW are earning money under the table are able to get away without claiming it? YES Do I know I am doing a lot of people a great service by providing health care and food stamp benefits when they are in a time of need? YOU CAN BET YOUR PAYCHECK ON IT. Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who not only works in this field, but I also have a second job in the evening. So, yeah, its a little difficult to see a 20 year old with no health issues tell me they cant find a job. My main point is that there are both good and bad involved in the welfare system, mostly good. But as with all things, people only point out the bad things and assume "they are all that way." Wayne
KYbass1276 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 There needs to be a time limit on welfare. To many people abuse it. Welfare takes away any incentive to work for the majority. Why work if where going to pay them not too is what there thought process is. Welfare is not given to the ones who are truly in need.
Popeye Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 DITTO to what KYbass1276 said! The "free ride" needs to have a time LIMIT and state politicians need to be held accountable for flagrant wastes of taxpayer $$$s. IMO.
mattm Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I really hope there is someway to fix the problems in the system. I'm all for the people needing help to get it, but when I hear someone say I figure why should my wife go back to work when we get wic, foodstamps and a fat return. That ticks me off. Don't they realize someone is paying for all that, and that person is the person they are talking to. Plus, anybody that says I'm on food stamps b/c I choose to be i.e. could get a job, but without one and foodstamps we still get by is a complete loser. Please note that i'm not calling people on foodstamps losers, but the people that could get off them and choose not to or fraud the system. >

Not all "Mexican" live off the system. Some of us actually work. In fact, I see that most work really hard doing jobs that others wont touch. What I do see in my area to be honest is lots of anglo's living off the system.

If that is the case, illegal people (no matter where they came from) are not eligible (technically) for benefits. They may receive medical help for a verified medical emergency and that is all. Their children may be eligible for food stamps, but they themselves are not. Same goes for cash assistance. I spend my day trying to get people to work. I dont care what color you are, as long as you are trying to help yourself then I dont have a problem helping you for the time being. Wayne

Wayne Thats great you feel that way and see somethings we don't but, to be honest I think thats a front they put on to you guys, just like those at work that act a certain way around the boss. In the 90's I did the stupid ral estate game and had 3 rentals that totalled 7 units, everyone was on section 8 and I thought I'd like it(guaranteed my money) but, I'm seriuos here-there is not one thing I can say about them that says they are trying-cause every tenent did not try for anything. Heck my youngest one was 20 years old and he was on section 8 with the help of his mom on knowing how to handle the system. This kid was healthy as an ox to me and did not hold a job cause everything was free for him. countless others as well. I seriuosly think they put on a front to you guys, not to say your fools but, we get scammed alot and we find out later alot. We should have a time limit on those that choose not to get a job and not stop the help for those that still need it while climing out of the ghetto with a job. :exclamation
