llPa1nll Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Twins agree to send Santana to the Mets The Minnesota Twins have agreed to trade Johan Santana to the New York Mets, according to USA Today. The deal hinges on a contract extension between Santana and the Mets. The Red Sox and Yankees had explored a trade for Santana, a two-time Cy Young winner, earlier in the offseason. Im just happy he didnt end up with the NYYs. I had my doubt of the Red Sox doing that deal the Twins just wanted way too much. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 A great move by the Sox to NOT ship off Clay Buckholtz and Jacoby Ellsbury. Both of these guys have some amazing potential. Especially Jacoby Quote
Guest muddy Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 This is a great addition to the starting line up. I really hope we do something with the bullpen however; we lost a lot of games last year after the 8th inning. This was like the some of the Braves teams, and what cost them a lot os WS! Teams would have to face:Maddox, Smoltz, Glavine and co. and once they got into the Braves BP, gameover! Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 31, 2008 Super User Posted January 31, 2008 He is supposed to be able to pitch 200 innings. One of the few pitchers who can pitch 200 innings a year. Quote
Guest muddy Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Willie won't let him, he learned how to manage pitching form the great Art Fowler; unless there is a no-no, or a perfect game he usually yanks em Quote

I mean thats what the Red Sox tried to do with their staff and look at how dominate Beckett was... Anyway glad he is in the NL. I wa afraid he might end up as a NYY, or even worse we unload all of our young talent to get him. Elsbury, Buckholtz, Lester, and other outstanding minor league talent... Quote
Jake. Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I hate to admit it, but he Braves will need a miracle this year. :-[ Wild card, here we come! Quote

I understand this; I grew up inj an era of more complete games, with really no such thing as Middle relief. I agree with how Willie handles pitchers by the way, just stating what I se in him. Quote
