fish-fighting-illini Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Weird day today. The temp was around 60deg's near lunch time. By 5pm it was 9 deg's with 30-45 mph winds. I was last out at work and I had to shut the gate. The wind was blowing so hard it was all I could do to hold it to put the lock on. The temp and wind were flat out dangerous. If you had a wreck on the way home and broke a window you'd be screwed in short order. Right now it is around 7-9 deg's with winds of 30-60 or 70 mph. Something like -20 to - 40 wind chill. Tonight I think will be -9 and probably wind still around till it settles down in temp. Quote

Popeye Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Yep. Even here in CA we're suffering some weird weather. Thunderstorms, high winds, heavy rains, and a tornado here and there. I saw this type of weather about 15 years ago around here. One day I was watching the sky/clouds and saw 6 funnel clouds form and then disappear back into the clouds. I've been in a few REAL tornadoes while living in Kankakee, Illinois and Richmond, Indiana and they are not fun! All you fellow midwesterners please stay safe and warm back there!! Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I'm in central ohio, Last Friday morning it was 5 deg. when I got to the airport headed for the bahamas (cruise) where it was 75 deg., got back to Ohio Monday night and it was 45 deg., today I woke up to temp of 9 deg. and NEGATIVE SIXTEEN windchill! I think I may book another cruise for the weekend! Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 Yesterday in central Illinois we had tornado warnings, flash flood warnings and blizzard warnings. All in the same afternoon. Gotta love it this time of year. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 She likes southern New England. 50 and rain to melt the ice and fill the lakes. Quote
FishingBuds Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 got this and had to post it "yesterday there was to be an asteroid in the neighborhood. Although the chances of it actually hitting the earth are slim to none, it presents some very real possible threats. TU24 is the name of the asteroid and astonomers apparently didn't even know about it until about 3 months ago. There is a possibility that it will produce some calamity on earth as well as possibly some strange things in the sky. It is said that one of the most likely events to happen will be electromagnetic discharge. This could cause many communications outages including cell phones, landlines, internet and could also severely affect radio signals. Some are saying it could also cause earthquakes and other natural disasters. This may all be a bunch of whooey but it might be a good day to be a little extra prepared and review your emergency plans. Scientists really don't know much about it because it was just discovered 3 months ago. Here is a web site that was posted on another forum but it seems to be a "sky is falling" type of site. Just thought I would post in case things get goofy you might know what a likely cause is." http://www.tu24.org/ Its a ka-wink-a-dink Quote
