Super User FishTank Posted January 29, 2008 Super User Posted January 29, 2008 I am bored out of my skull and thought I need some coffee. My wife always yells at me for getting wierd coffee. Do you guys have a favorite? Anybody think Starbucks is crazy but tasty? If I had to pick a favorite coffee company though, I would go with Gevalia. Expensive, tastes fantastic and their service is a good as G. Loomis'. http://www.gevalia.com/Gevalia/ Quote
frogtog Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Maxwell House, 2 - 10 cups a day and those dad gum Salem cigs. My doctor told me thats why I have so much fun on the water, because I'm A Live Wire. ;D Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted January 29, 2008 Super User Posted January 29, 2008 Totally agree with you FishTank, Gevalia is the best. I make one pot a day. Just enough to fill up my thermos and travel mug for the drive in. Grind it fresh every morning, filtered water, add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar right on top of the grounds. Nectar of the gods. Quote
slomoe Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 add a pinch of salt wha? Never heard of that. Quote
Guest avid Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 can't say that i'm a conesauscer, but avid likes his coffee......Right now 100% arabica is suiting my taste. Quote
Olebiker Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Anything but Starbucks. Why anyone would burn their coffee beans is beyond me. Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 Community Dark Roast In 1919, Henry Norman "Cap" Saurage discovered the secret of making this great-tasting coffee in his country store in Dixie, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge. He named his coffee "Community" in honor of his community of friends. True Cajun coffee does not contain chicory and Community Coffee is the #1 choice of Cajuns. Quote
Guest muddy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I get my coffe From Da'micos coffe shop , Court Street brooklyn, you can shop them on the net. He roasts on the premisis and my family has always bought their coffe threre. He has great Italain Espresso Roasts, Locally Named House Special Blends and flavored coffees. Put's Gevailla and Starbuck's to shame. Starbucks opened a store in the neighborhood, when the yuppies started moving in and THE STORE FAILED. They serve hot coffe at the store, free newpapers and a cup of grat coffee is 1.75, they also sell Imported Itailain Cold Cuts and Cheeses at the other part of the store Here is the web site:http://www.damicofoods.com/ The only 2 mass ditributed coffee i like Community Roast Chock full of Nuts Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I love my coffee too. Not a pro, like Robert and his Tequila's, but I DO like a mean Jo. I tried "community" when I was in Ct this summer, nice stuff but they don't have it in RI. I like Folger's, call me crazy. Quote
jdw174 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I like Folger's, call me crazy. LBH, you ain't crazy by a long shot. While I wouldn't walk across the street for a Starbucks if it was free, I do buy Folger's Coffeehouse Blend regularly. Costs about $3 more per large can than their regular grind and it's worth it. I've tried the "House Blend" and "Gourmet Supreme" and both are good. The one Folger's that I haven't tried yet is the "Black Silk" and that's going to be next. Quote
dave Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Like LBH, I'm happy with my Maxwell House. In the event I need to get it out, I'll take Dunkin Donuts (blind tasters picked it over Starbuck's) One brand I will never hesitate to buy, believe it or not over all of them, is the new McDonald's gourmet coffee. Also, I was always told to, "learn to drink it black and you will never be disappointed." Quote
KYbass1276 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Not sure if everyone has white castles in there area but I love there coffee. I like folgers and I tried some coffee called Eight O clock coffee and I like it alot too. Quote
Popeye Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I like Peet's coffee. Started drinking it after I found out it is Lance Armstrong's favorite brew. Too bad I can't cycle as great as he can:o) I rarely drink coffee any more. I've pretty much switched to green tea. Quote
Hawgin Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 The best coffee I've ever tasted is from The Roasterie right here in Kansas City. Then again I'm partial to local businesses, but you should give it a try sometime. I doubt you'll be disappointed. http://www.theroasterie.com/ P.S. The best beer made in the state of Missouri is also located on the Kansas City side. Those of us here drink quality Boulevard beer, and then pee in the river so it flows down to St. Louis, so they can use that water to flavor their beer. Quote
slomoe Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I rarely drink coffee any more. I've pretty much switched to green tea. x2, I just cut my caffeine consumption to a fraction of what it was. I was drinking 2-3 of the tall redbulls and couple cups of coffee a day. Waaayy too much, plus coffee in the morning gives me crazy bubble guts. Quote
nboucher Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Although I can't remember the last time I turned down any cup of coffee that was offered to me, I've come closest when offered any kind of "flavored" coffee. Strong, dark coffee already has plenty of flavor, thank you. My current favorite to brew at home is Love Buzz, produced by Equal Exchange. I used to be friendly with one of the founders of this company. Their mission is to work direcly with small producers of coffee beans to give the small farmer a market. Here's their description of Love Buzz: Organic Love Buzz Post-Roast Blend: Full City and French Roast Created by a genius in Philadelphia, this secret recipe delivers a sweet, sultry and smooth coffee with an unexpected bite and lasting finish. A smorgasbord of roasts in a combination of Latin American beans so fine it will make your heart pound. Feel the love! (Available in 12oz & 5lb) That's from their Web site: http://www.equalexchange.com/coffee-blends#OLB I'm not connected to the company, but I think they're doing a good thing. Quote
Zel Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Here's how I order my coffee Give me some non-fuffy high-test coffee please. It's getting harder and harder to get it that way, and try and find some regular plain half-and-half to put in it. I don't want my coffee (or creamer) tasting like their serving it to me from some fancy French bordello. At home it's Chase and Sandborn the good stuff! Quote
