Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 19, 2008 Super User Posted January 19, 2008 My dad's side of the family came to America from Denmark back in the mid 1800's. They were from a long line of musicians and vocalists. My mom's side of the family came the Americas from England back in 1620 and settle in a place called Plymouth, Massachusetts. Yep, that's right. They came over on the Mayflower. They later were one of the original settlers of Newburyport, Mass. Now known as Newbury. A famous person on my mom's side was Rebecca Nurse. The third person hung in the Salem Witch Trials. She was my 10th Great Grandmother. Quote

frogtog Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 American, all of my ancestors have always lived in North Carolina. I think they left a few of us on a island in NC and went back to fetch some more. When they got back us Matthews had scattered all over the state. once we find a home we are hard to get rid of. Oh yea, that island was named Matthews Island and when they got back and couldn't find us they renamed it Roanoke Island. Quote
